In the mid-1990s, the eccentric American millionaire Forrest Fenn hid a chest with $ 10 million in the mountains of the huge Yellowstone Reserve. Thousands of people have since searched for the 87-year-old's treasure. Four of them died. The last one - in the summer of 2017, reports Kurl 8.

Former art dealer, collector and Vietnam veteran, Forest Fenn has set his mark on history after being diagnosed with cancer more than a quarter of a century ago. The illness seemed incurable to the businessman, but after a while the doctors declared that Fenn was healthy. However, upon learning of this, the American did not run to dig up his treasure.

In 2010, Forest Fenn published his autobiography, The Thrill of the Chase, which provides tips for finding treasures. Fenn wrote that the 20-kilogram chest containing art, antiques and other valuables was buried somewhere in the Rocky Mountains north of Santa Fe. It should be noted that the length of this ridge is 4.8 thousand kilometers, and the area is almost 100 thousand square kilometers.

The millionaire's book contains nine clues for the location of the treasure. Thousands of people are looking for clues - there are many online communities dedicated to this topic.

In 2017, Vox.com reporters said that four of the nine keys had already been found.

So far, the location of the treasure is known to be located at an altitude of more than two thousand meters above sea level; it is not worth looking for in cemeteries and destroyed buildings, nor is it worth looking for in the states of Idaho and Utah. The millionaire himself claims that it is impossible to accidentally stumble upon his treasure.

According to the millionaire, it is impossible to stumble upon a chest by accident without solving all the clues.

Fenn claims that the treasure is hidden in a safe place, but encourages adventurers to take supplies of food with them, as well as GPS navigators. These tips, unfortunately, did not save a few daredevils from death.

Four people have died in Fenn's treasure hunt since 2016. The relatives of the victims demanded that the millionaire announce the closure of the project, but he just shrugged. According to Fenn, people who are afraid of drowning should learn to swim, rather than demanding that pools and beaches around the world be closed.

Fenn says he is prepared for the treasure not to be found during his lifetime. "Then I will take his secret to the grave," the elderly businessman says.
