Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby stated that Jesus Christ was not white. He wrote about it on his Twitter page.
“Jesus was from the Middle East, he was not white. It is important that we remember this,”urged the spiritual leader of the Anglican Church. He also accompanied the post with his "favorite images" of a dark-skinned Christ from around the world.
Earlier, Black Lives Matter activist and former pastor Sean King called for the demolition of European statues of Jesus Christ. According to him, the light-skinned Christ is a form of reflection of the superiority of the white race. However, many pointed out to him that each nation portrayed Christ like itself.
Anti-racist protests in American cities in recent weeks have increasingly led to the desecration and destruction of monuments. They are demolishing not only monuments to the leaders of the Confederation, but also, for example, a monument to the navigator Christopher Columbus who discovered America, the first president and one of the founders of the United States, George Washington, and the author of the national anthem Francis Scott Key.
