In the western part of India, in the state of Rajasthan, are the mysterious ruins of the Bhangarh fort. The first thing that catches your eye here is a sign on the main gate prohibiting entry to the territory of Bhangar after dusk and before dawn. And the point here is not only in wild animals that can wander into the destroyed fortress, but also in its evil glory.
Legend has it that the beautiful princess Ratnawati lived in the city, with whom the sorcerer Singh fell in love. He understood that the princess would never fall in love with someone who devoted himself to the occult sciences, and therefore went to the trick. Once a sorcerer watched her maid in the bazaar when she was buying fragrant oil, and put a spell on the oil.
According to Singh's plan, when the princess touched the enchanted liquid, she would love him forever. But Ratnavati guessed about the witchcraft and smashed the bottle of oil on a huge boulder that stood on the hill. The earth shook and the stone rolled to the sorcerer's shack, dooming him to a slow death under the rubble. Emitting his spirit, the sorcerer cursed all the inhabitants of the city - they all had to die without the possibility of being reborn (in India they believe in reincarnation). A year after Singh's death, war broke out and the princess died irrevocably along with the inhabitants of the city.
According to another myth, the city was built next to the home of the hermit guru Balu Nath, who did not like very much when he was disturbed. Once he came to people and said: "As soon as the shadow of your palaces touches me, the city will cease to exist!" The hermit was disliked, and some even considered him a madman, because his words were forgotten the very next day.

As time went on, Bhangar grew and soon the day came when the shadow of the tallest structure fell on the dwelling of Balu Nath, where he found peace and meditated away from the bustle of the world. Since then, no one has seen the hermit, and a year later a war came to this region, which destroyed most of the city's inhabitants. The survivors had no choice but to escape from the fortress, so as not to share the fate of the dead and give the city to the power of the four elements and nature.
Time has badly battered the fortress, but the main buildings still challenge it, preserving the former grandeur and memory of bygone days. Tourists are the only guests of the lonely fort, but they leave it even before dusk. The darkness falling on the dead city never bodes well. Some Indians believe that the deceased inhabitants of Bhangar were forced to return to the cursed place as disembodied entities and still live among the ruins of their homes.
