Specialist in the field of face reconstruction from the skull Curtis Duran from the UK, specially for the virtual museum of the Sterlitamak branch of the Bashkir State University, recreated the appearance of two representatives of the ancient nomadic people from the skulls found by archaeologists, writes Ufa1 with reference to Igor Denisov, senior lecturer of the history department of the university.

As Igor Denisov explained, the reconstruction was based on a skull found in 2016 in the village of Ivanovka. Where the second skull was found is being specified. According to the historian, the second reconstruction can be called plausible. The scientist called the first image "fancy" because of the mustache and hairstyle, and too fat. According to Igor Denisov, the British anthropologist, working with the skull, relied on certain stereotyped ideas about the Sarmatians. In the minds of the British, according to him, the Sarmatians are King Arthur with his knights, so the first image turned out to be a little "courtier". The historian was also surprised by the speed with which the specialist recreated the appearance of the ancient nomads. He noted that the renovation is a rather costly work, but Curtis Duran agreed to work without pay.

Igor Denisov has been involved in the recreation of Iron Age artifacts for several years. The university even opened a special 3-D tour, which allows you to get acquainted with the life of the ancient peoples who once inhabited the territory of Bashkiria.

The Sarmatians are ancient nomadic Iranian-speaking tribes, which from the 4th century BC. e. to the first centuries AD e. inhabited the steppe strip of Eurasia from the Danube to the Aral Sea. Herodotus wrote that they descended from the Amazons, who married the Scythians and moved with them to other lands. The Sarmatians gave the Slavs the names of large rivers. So in Bashkiria there is the Ashkadar river (from Persian "clean river").
