In July 2002, a young Azerbaijani businessman, Rustam Karimov, received Greek companions on his yacht sailing in the Caspian. This was his second yacht - the first was based on the Adriatic, he had not yet had time to hire a crew for it and called his Greek crew on such an occasion.
By nightfall, the wind died down and the yacht calmed down. They did not start the diesel engine - the owner and his guests celebrated their birthday. The Greek team too, but in their own cockpit.
Only the helmsman was in the wheelhouse. True, he did not have to steer, the yacht was in drift, and behind the stern on a long cable dangled a yacht dinghy. Someone from the Greeks got out to the stern to smoke in a specially designated place.
The moon was shining brightly, and the sailor's attention was attracted by human silhouettes in a tuzik swaying behind the stern: from somewhere two people appeared in it, it was not clear what they were doing there. The Greek, swaying slightly, reached the wheelhouse, and together with the watchman, they deployed a running searchlight and turned it on, illuminating the intruders.
They behaved very strangely - instantly straightening up, they jumped from different sides into the water and disappeared. It was in vain that the Greeks drove a searchlight around the tuzik - there were no swimmers on the water.
The watchman turned on the siren, and the tipsy crew, along with the same guests, poured out onto the deck. Interrupting each other, the Greeks tried to explain something to the captain, who in English retold the situation to the owner of the yacht. The sailors pulled up the tuzik and lifted it to the deck. At the bottom of it, water was splashing along with a heap of some kind of algae, and in this puddle two decent fish were languidly swarming. It seemed that unknown creatures climbed into the tuzik with the intention of quietly having a fresh fish dinner, and the sailors frightened them off.
Rustam explained to his guests that they might have been Suadams - water people, the legends about which exist among some peoples living on the coast of the Caspian Sea.

His father told how one day, together with other fishermen, he tried to free a "water man" who was caught in the net. He did not understand their intentions and fought back madly, wounding one fisherman with something like a short spear with a bone tip.
An uninvited guest in the city of oil industry workers
In the early 1980s. Caspian oilmen have repeatedly reported on their meetings with Suadam. In those years, a significant part of Baku oil was produced on the Caspian shelf. Overpasses in shallow water went far into the sea, and a whole town of oilmen Oil Rocks was located 50 km from the coast. Houses, shops, a club stood on the platforms above the sea, and some residents even arranged vegetable gardens.
One morning, one of the rig workers was returning to the dorm after shift. To the Oil Rocks, he had to walk several kilometers along the overpass. Suddenly ahead, behind the electrical panel, he noticed a strange human figure, squatting.
The "man" was completely naked, his figure struck with some kind of blur, as if he was shivering from the cold, and his face was hidden behind a shield. The worker stopped in fright, and then, just in case, crossed to the other side of the overpass and began to slowly move forward. When they were only 10 meters apart, the crooked man, without straightening up, began to tip over under the handrail and flew into the water. The height of the overpass was about 15 m - it is almost a modern five-story building. The worker immediately ran to this place, but there was no one in the water.
Half an hour later, having reached the village, he told about what he had seen, and it turned out that similar meetings with an unknown creature had taken place among other oil workers. In any case, water people - sua-ladies - are rather fearful and do not attack people. Although in the past years there have been several cases of disappearance of women, alone trying to go along the flyover to visit someone.
The literature describes another, relatively recent case of a young couple who retired on a quiet and moonless night on the beach. Preoccupied with themselves, the young people missed the moment when three naked human figures silently appeared from the sea. It is curious that these witnesses also noted the strange "blurring" of the figures of the creatures.
The Suadama surrounded the couple and even bent over them, apparently to see what these land creatures were doing here. And at that very second, the beach resounded with a heart-rending female squeal. Such a strange reaction amazed the aquatic people so much that they instantly disappeared into the water. After this meeting, the guy ended up in a mental hospital and he needed long-term treatment.
