Among the New Arleans swamps in America, there is an islet that used to be popular with wild honey lovers. Now the bees are gone, and the locals have lost interest in the islet. Nevertheless, one unusual inhabitant of this corner does not give rest to enthusiasts even today …
In 1963. Air amateur Harlan Ford flew past Honey Island and saw an abandoned camp below. A true adventurer, he set out with his friend Billy Mills to explore the area. Armed with guns, the men easily reached the camp and began to study it, when they suddenly saw a strange creature. Subsequently, Ford described it as follows: the creature reached at least seven feet (more than 2 meters) in height, it had a strong constitution and was covered with dark gray hair. The eyes of this amazing creature - huge, amber in color - caused a feeling of goosebumps.
It is no wonder that no one believed the stories of friends after their return home. You never know what can be seen by two men who are not averse to having a glass or two.
Another encounter with the swamp monster
… More than ten years have passed. In 1974. Ford and Mills were hunting on Honey Island and stumbled upon a recently killed wild boar. But it was not a man who killed him, and not even a predator familiar to experienced hunters. The animal's throat was ripped open, and blood pulsed from it. Nearby were strange footprints that clearly belonged to a "fantastic hunter" for a wild boar, and the men made casts of them. However, they did not believe them this time too, they accused them of forgery, and the found tracks were considered to be the tracks of an alligator. Offended by Harlan Ford, he simply fell ill with the search for the monster.

He sent the prints for examination to the staff of the Louisiana Wildlife Committee. They confirmed that the tracks did not belong to an alligator. A creature that leaves such traces has membranes to live in the water, and at the same time a protruding finger to comfortably climb trees. It turned out that this monster could swim freely, like, say, a seal, and at the same time, like a monkey, jump in trees.
Other evidence of the swamp monster
It is noteworthy that others saw the swamp monster in these places. For example, the hunter Ted Williams, who spent most of his life here, visited the swamps every day to check his traps. He claimed to have seen the swamp monster many times and, moreover, talked about a whole population of these creatures. The hunter could even kill them, but he did not see the reason, since the strange creatures were not going to harm him. If Ted noticed them swimming in the river, they immediately got out of the water and disappeared among the swamp thickets. Once, when Ted was fishing, one of these marsh inhabitants swam across the river in his direction, but came ashore a little to the side and walked past him …
Harlan Ford planned to conduct an expedition with Ted, but this did not happen. Once he sailed especially far in his boat, intending to fish for trout. Since then, no one has seen him: neither the body nor the boat has been found.
Later, Harlan himself died - a zealous seeker of a swamp monster, who until the end of his life was sure that, sooner or later, he would find solid evidence of the existence of this mysterious creature. This brave man left behind many casts of the traces of the swamp monster, but he did not manage to catch him. Honey Island keeps this little secret to this day …
