We are used to the fact that mostly mysterious monsters are seen in lakes, seas and oceans, but sometimes they appear right over our heads - in the sky. Winged monsters are of particular interest to researchers, because it is completely incomprehensible where they come from, especially in densely populated areas of our planet.

Mole Man Scares Americans

In 1877-1880, American newspapers often wrote about the "flying man"; this eerie humanoid creature was observed by many eyewitnesses. At one time, the monster often visited Brooklyn, writing intricate pirouettes in the sky over the amazed and frightened townspeople. In one of the first publications devoted to the phenomenon of the flying monster, in the New York newspaper on September 18, 1877, its author, Mr. W. H. Smith, emphasized that there was definitely not a bird in the sky, but "the figure of a winged man."

On September 12, 1880, The New York Times reported that the man with the wings was observed by "many trustworthy persons." The unusual creature performed air pirouettes at an altitude of about 300 meters, displaying "wings like a bat." In February 1922, one of the eyewitnesses, William S. Lamb, first saw a UFO at night, and a few minutes later a "magnificently flying creature" more than 2 meters tall landed next to it. It passed through the snow past the tree behind which the man was hiding, and disappeared.

On November 15, 1966, two young couples were driving around the town of Point Pleasant, looking for their friends. At the old factory in the dark, they saw two bright red circles, which quickly moved closer to the car, and then it became clear that these were huge eyes of a terrible creature more than two meters tall, with folded wings behind it.

Young people were very frightened and hurried to leave this place. The road climbed a small hillock, where they saw another similar red-eyed creature. As soon as the car approached it, it suddenly spread its wings, "like a bat", and without any effort soared vertically upward. The monster began to chase the car and kept up with it for a while, although it was rushing along the road at a speed of about one hundred miles per hour. Eyewitnesses claimed that he never flapped his wings.

On November 17, 1966, a 17-year-old boy from Point Pleasant, who was driving along Highway 7, was seriously scared by a monster. For a mile, a huge "bird" suddenly appeared in pursuit of his car. And on the morning of November 25, Thomas Urie, a shoe salesman on his way to work, saw from his car a tall, humanoid figure standing on the side of the road. Suddenly this "man" opened a pair of wings and flew straight up. Despite the fact that Uri was traveling at a speed of 75 miles per hour, for a while the monster, keeping up with it, flew over his car.

Almost during the same period, a flying monster was observed in the vicinity of the city of New Haven in West Virginia. Returning home from church on Sunday morning, an 18-year-old girl saw a large gray figure at the local golf club, at least two meters tall. Most of all she was frightened by the large and round eyes of the monster, blazing with red fire. Suddenly a pair of wings opened behind him, and he slowly and silently, without flapping them, rose into the sky.

The winged monster was also observed in Ohio, where the number of eyewitnesses reached a hundred people. According to their stories, the creature was two meters in height, had an eerie mesmerizing look and had the ability to fly at high speed, easily catching up with cars rushing along the highway. The monster's wings folded behind him. It is curious that during the flight he did not wave them, so it was not clear how he was able to develop significant speed.

After numerous publications about this mysterious creature, this monster in the United States was nicknamed "the mole man". Eyewitnesses, who had a chance to observe the monster, all as one talked about the horror that he caused. There have been cases when, simultaneously with the "man-moth", eyewitnesses observed a UFO. Then the winged monster disappeared and over time everyone forgot about him. By the way, in 2004, the "mole-man" again reminded of himself: he was observed by an eyewitness from the state of Kentucky and even managed to photograph.

Scary guests from another dimension

Where could such a monster come from in the densely populated areas of the United States? Three decades after a series of observations of this mysterious creature, the famous American ufologist John Keel remembered him. The attention of the researcher was attracted by the fact that the appearance of winged monsters was very often preceded by a UFO sighting. According to John Keel's assumption, UFOs enter our world from a parallel dimension. It is not excluded, the researcher believed, that when a UFO passes from one world to another through the emerging "window", unusual creatures inherent in another world accidentally break through to us.

It is worth noting that the winged monster was observed not only in the United States. In 1963, the "flying man" was seen in England (Kent), in South Africa (the Orange River region), in 1967 winged monsters were observed in Mexico, in 1976 the "uncle" with big ears and huge wings was seen by 12-year-old June Melling Cornwell (England). In the summer of 1994, winged monsters were spotted again in Mexico. One of the eyewitnesses said that the unusual creature had bird wings and legs covered with feathers, but the shoulders and head looked like an ordinary person.

It is curious that in the United States a case was recorded of a direct attack by a flying monster on a person. In early 1976, in Texas, Armando Grimaldo was sitting in the yard and idly staring at the clouds. Suddenly, a terrible monster swooped down from the sky and grabbed the man by the hair, obviously intending to carry him out of the yard and bite him somewhere. Either Grimaldo was too heavy for the monster, or the monster was frightened by his heart-rending scream, but when people jumped out of the house at the screams of the poor fellow, they only saw the winged monster flying away. Armando escaped with minor head wounds and severe shock. According to his description, the wingspan of the monster reached 3 meters, he had dark brown skin and terrible reddish eyes.

Who flies over our Primorye?

In Russia, the Far East has its own "flying man", and his phenomenon is much more stable, this allows us to assert that he is not a "stray" guest from other worlds, but rather is a native representative of the Primorye fauna. The reality of this monster is evidenced by the fact that the famous traveler and researcher V. K. Arseniev met him.

He wrote the following about this meeting: “My dog trailed behind. On the trail I saw a bear footprint, very similar to a human. Alma bristled and grumbled, and after that someone rushed to the side, breaking the bushes. Alma snuggled tightly to my feet … At that time something happened that I did not expect at all. I heard the flapping of wings. A mass, large and dark, floated out of the fog and flew over the river. The dog expressed obvious fear and huddled at my feet all the time. At that time, screams were heard, similar to the screams of a woman … In the evening, the Udege began to lively discuss and talk about the fact that a man lives in these places who can fly through the air."

Amazingly, judging by eyewitness accounts, this creature has not yet become extinct. In 1956, the "flying man" almost became the cause of a plane crash: an An-2 plane collided with him in the air, on which a party of geologists was thrown into the taiga. The pilot N. Gribachevsky not only saw the mysterious winged

creature, but after landing found a fragment of his skin on his plane.

In the 60s, during the aggravation of relations with China, the border guards mistook the "flying man" for a spy. From a frontier armored boat, they opened fire on the alleged winged "spy" from a machine gun. The creature then sharply glided into the coastal taiga, they tried to find it with dogs, but it disappeared without a trace.

The meeting with the "flying man" can end rather sadly, as evidenced by the case with one of the seaside hunters. In the winter of 1968, while hunting, fleeing the storm, he climbed into a cave. Alas, it turned out that she was busy. Blinded by a bonfire made by the hunter, a real monster rushed at him from the far corner of the cave. Here is his description from the local newspaper “Gentry”: “Huge wings with a span of over two meters were like an extension of the arms. The human head, covered with thick down, was without hair on the "face". Huge eyes and almost indistinguishable mouth and nose …”Getting out of the cave, the monster badly hurt the hunter, he lost his eye, and because of fear of the monster stopped going hunting. There were also recorded cases of a monster attacking the hunter Andrey Averyanov and the tourist Evgeny Ilyinsky. However, according to local researchers, the "flying man" is a rather peaceful creature.
