Stories of black-eyed children began to appear in 1988, when journalist Brian Bethel spoke about meeting two children on a country road, who tried to persuade him to give them a lift in his car. Bethel wrote that he almost opened the door and let the children in until he noticed that their eyes were completely black, without an iris or pupil. According to him, as soon as the children realized that he was seeing something strange, they got angry and became aggressive, he blocked the doors and quickly left.

After this publication, the editorial office began to receive other messages about similar meetings from different parts of the United States. In all stories, an almost identical scenario was traced: lonely children asked to be allowed into their car or house. Many of the storytellers describe the inexplicable horror they experienced, and some have written about the completely black eye sockets of strange children.

It seems that all the people who report this unusual encounter have never let the children in out of fear.

The strangest and most contradictory of these stories is that black-eyed children are said to emit a frightening vibration. Those who meet them claim to feel threatened, panicked, and even disoriented. Some speculate that this may be the result of their black eyes, perhaps some kind of hypnotic suggestion used as an attempt to persuade a person to let them into their home or car.

Their persistence confirms the theory described in many religions that evil needs some kind of invitation before entering a house (or even a person). Moreover, evil in the guise of a child is a very smart move, because people are more likely to say "yes" to a needy child who comes to the doorstep in the middle of the night than to a man or woman.

What kind of children could they be? Vampires, aliens, lost souls, demons in disguise, or an innocent prank? None of these answers can be proven or disproved. But children with black eyes are still met today.
