At the orbital station "Mir-2" they are going to create artificial gravity, which will resemble the earth's. This was reported by Oksana Bassova, a member of the development team.
“According to the concept, the station will be designed from two modules, and the central one, in turn, will be divided into three circular segments with different gravity. In the first, near-zero gravity will be created, all technical rooms will be located there. In the middle segment, it will be half that of the earth, and already in the third, where the cosmonauts will live, it will be as close as possible to the one on the planet,”Bassova said.
A representative of the development group added that the creation of gravity is a very important step for the further study of outer space. “We will thus be able to open the doors to long flights. This will help us carry out an expedition to Alpha Centauri or Mars. The space station is not big, with a radius of only 30 meters. Perhaps in the future we will launch the serial production of Mir-2 spacecraft, then thousands of people will be able to live in orbit. Moreover, the prime cost of our project is not great when compared with modern programs,”she said.
