Imagine: the magnetic field is switched off and radiation in the form of protons begins to penetrate the Earth. And now they do not penetrate? They are collected by the Earth's magnetic field and focused in the circumpolar regions of the northern hemisphere.
When protons move, they "slide" along the magnetic lines of force and fly into the atmosphere at precisely the polar points of entry of these magnetic fields. In other words, the Earth's magnetic field collected all the flying protons and, like a beam, focused it in the northern hemisphere near the magnetic pole. But increased radiation in the region of the North Pole is not observed. At least critical. Icebreakers go there, civil aircraft fly (flights from Canada to Singapore, for example) even at an altitude of 10 km. And nobody gets fatal doses of radiation. It turns out that the proton radiation is extinguished by the atmosphere, even taking into account such focusing by the Earth's magnetic field. What about other types of radiation?

I don’t know, maybe those scientists who disseminate these dreaded are not aware of nuclear physics and how specific radioactive radiation affects matter. Where did the confidence come from that without a magnetic field the Earth would be penetrated by cosmic radiation?
It turns out that without a magnetic field, the proton flux will simply be redistributed over the entire surface of the Earth. And deadly radiation as there was not at the pole, and will not be at the equator. Some background enhancement is possible. You need to make calculations. I wonder if scientists have them?

How accurate this model is is hard to say. But my opinion is that most of the radiation, cosmic rays, will still be absorbed by the atmosphere even without a magnetic field. Only high-energy particles will reach the Earth, which even now penetrate the entire thickness of the atmosphere. As I wrote above, gamma radiation is not affected by a magnetic field. And it is the most striking.
