Despite numerous eyewitness accounts and available documentary evidence, modern science still stubbornly denies the existence of Bigfoot, who, as follows from the legends, was somewhere near us throughout the history of mankind.
Mysterious origins
Yeti, ulmesh, koldan - these and dozens of other names common among the peoples of the North, Urals, Siberia and the Far East refer to a creature that cryptozoologists call a relict hominid. For most of the indigenous peoples of the protected areas of Russia, Bigfoot is associated with the powerful spirit of the taiga, forest or mountains and is present in many national legends. According to one Evenk legend, the king of this northern people Urgench, who lived in XV! century, was born from the union of an ordinary man and the Koldan-Ugry - a hairy woman. According to this legend, the Evenk tsar allegedly inherited from his unusual mother the amazing ability to read the thoughts of the interlocutor, move silently and impose his will with just one glance.
Another legend says that the first ruler of the Yakuts, Tyusulge-darkhan, was brought to the shepherds as a baby in a birch basket by the hairy monster Ulmesh, from whose terrible appearance they fell to the ground. Later Tyusyulgzdarkhan became a rich and powerful ruler, whose possessions were located on the left bank of the Lena from present-day Yakutsk to Pokrovsk. This ruler was the founder of a dynasty of Yakut kings, distinguished by their heroic build and incredible strength.
Wool and Dung Medicines
The Russian pioneers who appeared in the Altai in the 18th century were amazed by the stories of the local population about the mysterious people who came from time immemorial from the Gobi desert and settled in the caves of the Kurai ridge. According to the testimony of the Altaians, the representatives of this people were distinguished by gigantic growth, and their whole body was covered with thick wool.

There are archival memories of a certain Cossack Stepan Sukhorukov, who allegedly in the winter of 1793, not far from the village of Chagan-Uzun in the southeast of Altai, saw several footprints in the snow, vaguely resembling human ones, but "arshin length." One of the local shamans even showed the guest a large, dense, foul-smelling clump of wool, which supposedly belonged to one of the mountain spirits, which the Altaians considered the representatives of this mysterious people.
It was among the servants of shamanistic cults that for centuries a special attitude towards the Bigfoot was preserved. Fragments of wool, droppings and even objects that were touched by a relic hominid were considered very valuable relics among shamans. In particular, wool or yeti droppings were included in the special potions with which shamans treated sick fellow tribesmen. Pieces of earth or stones on which Bigfoot's foot stepped were often used to make amulets, and it was customary to wash with water from the reservoir from which he drank in the morning.
It was believed that in this way women could preserve their youth and beauty for a long time.
In the southeast of the Sayan spur, at an altitude of one and a half thousand meters, there is a small lake Kobi-Kar, filled with waters of melting glaciers. Among the local population, there is a belief that the Master of the Mountains - as the Bigfoot is called here - comes to this lake for a watering hole on dark moonless nights. Therefore, among the Tuvans living in the villages close to the high-mountain lake, it is still customary to take regular ablutions in this reservoir. It is believed that bathing in Kobi-Kar prolongs life. This fact, of course, can be regarded as a prejudice, however, impartial medical statistics indicate that the life expectancy of the population of that area is ten years higher than the regional average.
The incident at the Chike-Taman pass
The facts of the meeting of a man and a relict hominid began to be documented and reached the general public only in the 20th century. So, in Russia, one of the first mentions of Bigfoot dates back to 1908. Then the newspaper "Tobolskie Vedomosti" wrote about how the Tomsk merchant Yegor Kuzmich Savinov, who was carrying several carts with goods from Manchuria along the famous Chuisky tract, in the area of the Chike-Taman pass fell into a snow storm. One of the horses stumbled, the sled skidded, and they began to slide into the abyss. The merchant's men and Savinov himself tried to save the heavy load and horses, but their strength was not enough.
Suddenly the horses began to snore and buckle, showing great anxiety. The merchant thought that they had sensed a bear, and took out a gun. And then, through the snow veil, the outlines of a huge dark figure appeared, much larger than an ordinary bear. Following this, the horses became silent, and an inexplicable numbness attacked the people themselves. The creature, moving on two legs, approached the sledges hanging over the abyss, with one powerful jerk pulled them to the snow-covered side of the road and after a moment seemed to dissolve in a dense blizzard.
Mysterious disappearance
Everyone who has ever encountered a relict hominid notes its ability to influence human consciousness. So, the hunter Zakhar Ivanovich Lyubimtsev in the fall of 1986 in the Krasnoyarsk taiga unexpectedly met a yeti. A tall, hairy creature that appeared as if out of thin air stood behind a mighty cedar and gazed with small reddish eyes at the man with the gun. As soon as the glances of Lyubimtsev and the mysterious creature met, Zakhar Ivanovich felt a strong dizziness, and his arms and legs became like cotton wool. At some point, the hunter felt that he was beginning to fall asleep. He blinked and immediately saw that the furry creature that stood behind the cedar had disappeared.
Another curious incident occurred in 1999 on a deserted section of the Novosibirsk-Kemerovo highway. The driver who was driving a passenger bus suddenly saw that a very tall and large man suddenly appeared on the road about twenty meters from the vehicle. In the first second, the driver thought that the stranger was wearing a brown fur sheepskin coat and a winter hat of the same color. He started emergency braking, but the speed of the bus was quite high, and soon the driver realized that he could not avoid colliding with a person. And at that very moment when the colossus of the intercity bus
had to crush a gaping traveler under her, he suddenly disappeared. Three dozen passengers of the bus witnessed this unusual incident, many of whom began to assert that the pedestrian who found himself on the highway was not a man at all, but some kind of mysterious creature …
An experiment spanning millennia
The nature of the relict hominid is still a mystery to cryptozoologists. Some of them are sure that Bigfoot is a special branch of the human race, which has gone in a different way - not a technogenic way of development. According to others, the Yeti is the second tree of intelligent beings on earth, standing at a higher stage of development than humans. Some Siberian cryptozoologists, in particular the Omsk scientist Igor Khorev, put forward a rather unusual hypothesis, according to which the relict hominid, like Homo sapiens, was settled on Earth by alien intelligence. These two species, possessing different intellectual, physical and spiritual abilities, are participants in a grandiose experiment conducted for many millennia by an alien civilization unknown to us.
The reason for the fact that people extremely rarely meet with Bigfoot and so far there have been no cases of discovering the bodies of deceased or perished relict hominids is, perhaps, that the Yeti lives in a different space-time dimension, inaccessible to humans, but representing is the natural habitat of Bigfoot. It is possible that the time will come, and the long experiment of an alien civilization will come to an end. However, what will happen in this case can only be guessed at.
