New Zealand resident Mark Koppel, 49, announced a big "hunt" for the New Zealand Yeti. The locals call this creature the words Mohau, Matau, Taoigin and so on. and is described as a large monkey.

Mark calls himself a cryptozoologist and earlier he lived in the United States for 20 years, dealing with the problem of American big feet, but in order to track Mohau he returned home several years ago.

In 2015, Mark was looking for Mohau in a remote area of the Coromandel Peninsula and there he found large tracks, similar to those of a large primate, and then he heard something very large and definitely two-legged walking in the thickets. According to Mark, it was definitely the same Mohau.

After this incident, Mark began to carry around with him a body camera and take casts of unusual footprints. Mohau is mainly found in the vicinity of Coromandel; it has not been observed elsewhere in New Zealand.

According to eyewitnesses, this is a shaggy, strong and ape-like creature that likes to hide in the bushes. It is larger and taller than the average person.

A strange creature from the Coromandel also appears in the myths of the local people, and it was described there that they have sharp long claws and that it could easily kill Maori warriors.

In recent years, there have been several reports of the observation of Mohau, and now Mark is collecting money for a full-fledged expedition to those places to track down this creature. He needs to collect almost 6 thousand dollars.

Lian Ngamane, a local resident, says his family has lived in the area for centuries, and in conversations with his relatives, he learned many stories about a hairy man from Coromandel, nicknamed Mohau.
