On the beaches of Florida, you can encounter not only Justin Bieber, Cameron Diaz or our Valery Leontiev. They say that under the palm trees there is a much less attractive and promoted character, namely a skunk monkey.
This cryptid hominid was also seen in the marshes of some southern states of America. The animal got its name because of the external resemblance to a large monkey, as well as because of its disgusting smell. The skunk monkey is considered a relative of Bigfoot or Bigfoot, although official science does not recognize its existence.
The first official report of a human encounter with a skunk monkey dates back to 1970. Shrimp fishers spotted several huge, furry creatures in the Gulf of Mexico - 20 miles offshore. A year later, the skunk monkey scared the outdoorsy tourists. Waking up at dawn, they saw a large, furry human figure standing next to the tent and screamed in horror. The strange creature, frightened by the scream, rushed away from the tourist camp. But the disgusting smell for a long time reminded of his visit. In addition, traces of the "monkey", approximately 44 by 29 cm in size, remained everywhere.
In early January 1974, a skunk monkey was seen at one of the horse ranches. The giant creature easily tore off the foal's head and disappeared in an unknown direction. That same night, at four o'clock in the morning, a certain R. Smith was driving along Route 27 when a huge black man suddenly appeared on the road in front of his car. Out of surprise, the driver could not slow down in time and hit the "pedestrian". Coming out of the car, Smith was horrified at all. Under the wheels of his car lay a humanoid creature about 2 meters tall, and it seemed to be furious with pain. Smith rushed into the car and fled the scene, but for a long time he heard the growl of the monster.
The fact that it was not a dream was evidenced by dents and blood on the front bumper of the car. Smith did not hide from responsibility and reported the incident to the police. The policeman who arrived at the scene of the accident saw the "victim", who, as if nothing had happened, stood in the same place. When the officer tried to call out to the creature, it lunged at the man. After a warning shot into the air, something moved towards the swamps.
Meanwhile, the phone at the police station was heated by calls from eyewitnesses reporting a strange creature. A hairy humanoid giant was seen in the area of the same 27th highway, along which he limped, in a southerly direction. The next day, a helicopter survey team spotted a skunk monkey walking on two legs through a swamp.

All stories about the skunk monkey could be mistaken for ordinary stories. However, there are people among the eyewitnesses whose testimonies are hard not to believe.
Police Corporal Wiggins once shot down a skunk monkey on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale. The animal disappeared into the forest, and the car was seriously damaged in the collision. Hair and blood remaining on the radiator could not be identified. The corporal was so stubborn in his testimony about the humanoid being that he even lost his job. Apparently, his boss was a big skeptic.
About a month later, the Reverend S. L. Whateley saw a skunk monkey in the same places, collecting brushwood in the forest near the road. According to him, the creature, standing motionless in the bushes, reached at least 2.4 m in height. His body was covered with dark, thick fur. But on a flat muzzle with a flattened nose and deep-set eyes, there was no fur. There was no reason not to trust the testimony of the pastor of the Baptist church: he was known in the district as a very respected person.
In 1993, Jeff Leitner, an engineer at one of the Kennedy Space Center companies, was returning with his wife and 8-year-old daughter along road 407, not far from Titusville. Suddenly, in the headlights, they saw what it seemed to them, a giant monkey with rearing fur. The arms and legs of the creature were disproportionately long, and its manner of movement was very much like a monkey, so it was simply impossible to confuse the animal with a bear. The giant walked along the road, ignoring the car. And then suddenly he disappeared into the roadside thickets.
A retired US Air Force intelligence officer and now head of a major fire department, Vince Derr was the luckiest one. He always and everywhere carried a camera with him in order to immediately take pictures of incidents and fires. For 4 minutes he had the opportunity to photograph a skunk monkey retreating towards the swamps. It is Derr who owns the most famous photograph of a cryptid.
CLOSE MEETINGS
There is evidence of closer encounters with the skunk monkey. Such a story was published in November 2004 in the Orlando Sentinel newspaper. Jennifer Ward, 30, from Lakeland, returned in August 2004 with her two young daughters from guests. The girls were sleeping peacefully in the back seat of the car when Jennifer noticed a strange creature squatting in the ditch. It was so enthusiastic about catching frogs that it did not immediately notice the observer. Therefore, finally, discovering the slowdown of the car, it instantly straightened up to its full height. Of course, Jennifer could not stop the car at all: the giant covered with long hair seemed very scary to her. But she had time to consider something. According to the woman, he was 8 feet tall. The eyes were lined with a rim of white wool,very contrasting look against the background of the rest of the dark. Perhaps the twilight was to blame, but Jennifer assured that the creature had no ears and nose, and its lips were like pads on the paws of animals. All this was so incredible that Jennifer, fearing to be branded as crazy, did not soon dare to tell reporters about this meeting.
In September of the same year, a family who lived near a national reserve in Florida woke up from the knock on the window and the barking of pit bulls, which, as you know, are not timid. Running out of the house on the noise, people felt a terrible stench, reminiscent of the smell of falling. And then they saw a huge humanoid creature covered with brown hair, moving away from their home on two legs. When the creature caught up with the orange tree, it turned out that they were the same height. And the tree, according to the owners, at that time was 2.4 meters high.
RIDDLE WITHOUT ANSWER
It is curious that reports of encounters with the skunk monkey come from ordinary tourists, farmers, drivers, that is, those who are not specifically looking for a meeting with it. But those who went out in search of her on purpose are unlucky. Despite the fact that there are samples of blood and fur of a skunk monkey, its photos and videos, professionals are in no hurry to study this cryptid. As usual, the official science does not want to recognize the fact of its existence.
A natural question arises: why? Moreover, around the reserve, where the skunk monkey was seen, the authorities installed a fence about 4 meters high with barbed wire on top. Who was it for? For those who want to go in there, or for those who are not supposed to go out?
Cryptozoologists believe that scientists deny the existence of the skunk monkey and other species of Bigfoot simply because these creatures are not the "missing link" of evolution. After all, if we admit that they all really exist, then this will completely turn Darwin's theory, because it will unequivocally prove: there have never been any links of evolution, and all these creatures are a completely independent species that has existed on Earth since the "beginning of time."
