The Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology (MIET) is developing a technology that will improve the growth of cells on the surface of implants: for dental prosthetics, bone healing, fractures.
As noted in an interview with "KP" an employee of the Research and Education Center "Probe Microscopy and Nanotechnology" MIET, Alexei Romashkin, the rehabilitation process can become faster, and implantation - safer.
The institute found such a variant of the implant surface treatment, in which the cells on it will grow well, and the body will perceive foreign material as its own. For example, when a tooth is implanted, the growth of cells around the artificial post will accelerate, and the polymer material of the coating will be replaced by new bone tissue, thus the new tooth will easily take root.
The technology has already been successfully tested on cells in laboratories. Preparations for experiments on animals are in progress.
