Michio Kaku warned that people must urgently emigrate from Earth in order to survive in the beginning of the Apocalypse.
In his new book The Future Of Humanity, Kaku says that the future of humanity lies not on Earth, but on the stars.
National Geographic recently caught him on the phone at his office at City College in New York and he said that only the urgent resettlement of earthlings to other planets gives at least some chance to humanity.
NG - At the very beginning of the book, you make a shocking confession: "Either we leave the Earth or we will perish." Are the prospects for humanity really that dire? This is not a game of nihilistic feelings that there is nothing we can do to save our planet?
MK - If you look at evolution on Earth, 99.9 percent of all life forms are extinct. When everything changes, either you adapt or you die. This is the law of Mother Nature. We face various dangers. First of all, we have problems with self-destruction, such as nuclear proliferation and bioengineering bacteriological warfare, as well as with global climate change. In addition, Mother Nature introduced several extinction cycles to Earth. Dinosaurs, for example, did not have a space program. And that's why dinosaurs are not here today. On Earth, humanity has no chance.
We have discovered 4000 planets in the galaxy, and now we know that on average every star in the galaxy has a planet of some kind.
The only way for humanity to survive is to colonize at least one of these planets, possibly Mars.

AHC - You urge humanity to leave Earth urgently. Is everything so bad?
MK - An irreversible process has begun. We will not survive on Earth. I have said this more than once in the last year. I will not repeat myself. According to my forecasts, humanity will begin to die out at an alarming rate by the end of this year. These are natural disasters, weather anomalies, social explosions, and artificially caused diseases. In 3-4 years less than half of humanity will remain. And in 5-6 years there will be no one and no one to save.
AHC - But earthlings do not yet have the opportunity to emigrate from Earth. What should we do?
MK - Leading governments around the world need to unite and start tackling this problem. A global space program for the resettlement of humanity must be created. At least a small part of it. We must try to save its best representatives. So that on another planet they begin to revive our species. Otherwise, not a trace of humanity will remain. We'll just disappear.
AHC - I'm afraid this is an unreal fantastic idea and none of the heads of state will dare to do this. It's very expensive.
MK - If the world's leading governments wanted, we would have succeeded. At least we would try to save even a small part of the earthlings. But here I agree with you. Unfortunately, money now rules on Earth, not common sense. This means that humanity can only wait for the approach of its last hour. From the outbreak of the Apocalypse on Earth.
