Lately, perhaps, much more has been said about Lemuria and the Lemurians than about other hypothetical sunken continents and their dead civilizations. Can this be explained by the presence of convincing evidence of the real existence of Lemuria? Probably not. Perhaps this topic has become quite widespread due to the popularity of the works of Helena Blavatsky.
The erroneous hypothesis that gave rise to the legend
In the 1860s, many scientists noted and tried to explain the similarities that exist between the fauna and flora of Hindustan, Ceylon, Madagascar, the Seychelles and Comoros of the Indian Ocean. In 1864, in his article "Mammals of Madagascar," the English zoologist Philip L. Skleter suggested that in the past, the northwestern Indian Ocean could have had a vast land area, which served as a "bridge" for the spread of animals and vegetation. In particular, it was about the distribution of rather funny and unusual representatives of primates - lemurs, it was in their honor that the hypothetical disappeared continent was named Lemuria.
Skleter's hypothesis quickly acquired numerous supporters from zoologists, botanists, geologists and paleontologists. And in the 1870s, the German zoologist Ernst Haeckel took and suggested that Lemuria, among other things, was also the cradle of humanity. Allegedly, it was on this disappeared continent that the "humanization" of the monkey happened, which led to the most significant event in the history of the planet - the appearance of "Homo sapiens". This hypothesis was also received with enthusiasm by a number of scientists. Reasonable inhabitants of the disappeared continent were christened Lemurians, and then Lemuria "slipped" from the hands of scientists and became an object of study by occultists or, as they are now called, esotericists.
According to the latest data from the study of the bottom of the Indian Ocean, no continent existed in it. Much more we can talk about the reality of the Pacifis, Atlantis and Hyperborea than about Lemuria forgotten by scientists. When Lemuria died, the third subrace of the Atlantean race appeared, its representatives were up to 2.5 meters tall. Cayce pointed out that copies of all the most important documents of Atlantis, describing its complex and contradictory history, were transported by the Atlanteans to Egypt and hidden in the Hall of Chronicles, located somewhere between the Nile and the right paw of the Sphinx. He also said that some of the buildings of the Atlanteans will be discovered in a place known as Bimini, off the coast of Florida. There, at the bottom, scuba divers actually found a similar artificial formation, which they called the "Bimini Road". Some researchers who have studied this "road" hope to confirm Cayce's prophecy and find evidence in this place for the reality of Atlantis.
With regard to Lemuria, Cayce said the following: "The Andes or the Pacific coast of South America then occupied the western part of Lemuria." It is curious that back in 1932, the prophet spoke about an underwater structure, discovered only in the 90s. We are talking about the underwater Nazca ridge with a length of more than 300 kilometers. It is believed that this ridge once connected the Peruvian coast with a sunken archipelago, and possibly the mainland. True, let us remember that there was Pacifida in the Pacific Ocean; alas, the ideas of esotericists have brought a lot of confusion and this continent has practically turned out to be "absorbed" by Lemuria.
