Did you know that for the first time 3D technologies appeared in cinema back in the 1920s, and the first stereofilm that was shown publicly commercially was in …

… in 1922.

The setup of two cameras, assembled on one "rig", was developed by the film producer Harry Feyroll and the cinematographer Robert Elder. Each device filmed its part of the stereo pair on black and white negative film. The film was shown by two film projectors from two positive films in red-green anaglyph. Thus, it was the first use of a two-film system and the first use of anaglyph glasses.

However, it is not known whether Feyroll used color filters on the lenses or applied tinting to the film. After showing the film to distributors and the press in New York, the film disappeared from view, and its stereoscopic version is considered lost.

The film "The Power of Love", which was released in 1922 in the USA in the era of silent films, was not only the first 3d-film, but also the first interactive film. Stereo glasses with light filters were used for viewing, and two projectors simultaneously broadcast the movie. At the same time, the viewer had the opportunity to choose the ending of the film - a happy end or a tragic ending: the choice could be made by closing the right or left eye - the projectors in this case did not broadcast a combined image for the 3d effect, but completely different episodes.

What a twist! As interactive films have not been advertised, they are not yet released at all. And about the fact that it will be possible to control the plot in the cinema, I probably heard about 20 years ago. It is clear that this is more home entertainment, but still. Now there are Internet channels, Internet TV, but I don’t see such a service.

Expensive?
