Reforms in education are designed to destroy the human craving for knowledge. Academician Vladimir Igorevich Arnold shares this opinion. According to him, our reformers are converting our education to the American standard - the standard of education for a qualified, non-initiative consumer.
According to Academician Arnold, the ongoing Americanization of education, designed to make it "good", that is, like in the West, is aimed at creating members of the consumer society. Such people are not interested in either science or culture and, according to the academician, this is done deliberately, because if instead of buying new washing machines or cars every week, people start proving theorems, irreparable damage will be caused to the consumer society. The population must be an obedient herd in the hands of politicians who manipulate them, therefore nothing is taught in the American education system. So, applicants entering the institute do not know how to divide 111 by 3 without a calculator. They do not know that water has three phase states: solid, liquid and gaseous. As shown by a statistical study,conducted in schools in different states, in US schools, a maximum of 2% of math teachers can divide the number one and a half by one third. Fractions are excluded from the program.
The tendency of the destruction of the old education system is going on all over the world, because it is allegedly difficult to learn from it. This trend is being adopted by Russian reformers. They claim that our children have nothing to lose health by reading Pushkin and Tolstoy. Despite his status, as Academician Arnold himself admits, it is difficult to fight this tendency.
One day, Boeing representatives approached him and said that the American education system is such that they cannot hire American-raised schoolchildren, university graduates and technical colleges to build new planes or even repair old ones. Boeing is supported only by emigrants, mainly from three countries - from Russia, China and India. Boeing representatives, having learned that Russia is switching to American educational standards, calculated that in 30 years education in Russia will fall to the same level as in the United States, which will entail the destruction of the country's entire technological system.
The process of transition to American educational standards in the Russian Federation is going well. The exclusion from the school curriculum of teaching drawing and learning to work on machine tools, the cancellation of the compulsory exam in physics deprived technical universities of applicants capable of becoming engineers, and factories of workers capable of standing at the machine. Moreover, the destruction of this section of education contributes to the primitivization of the thinking of young people who are not able to understand how machines work, because they do not know the drawings, do not understand the technology of their production, do not have the skills to work with metal.
Technique becomes inaccessible to contemporaries. Modern Americanized education is suppressing in nature, suppressing the possibility of technical creativity. All this must be overcome.
It is necessary to create, within the limits permitted by law, a system of additional technical education, which gives access to modern technology without restrictions. For example, a CNC machine operator is a perfectly legal profession. Those who receive it will be able to read drawings, have the skills to operate complex machine tools, have an idea of the technology of production and assembly of machines, get the practice of technical measurements, gain access to the most modern equipment and serve as a bridge to higher levels of professional skill. And the highest level is characterized very simply and briefly: "The specialist knows everything about it." And all masons and other masons, as well as auxiliary workers, cannot reach this level.
