If you believe some theories that proclaim that life on planet Earth is an ordeal that you need to go through in order to find yourself in a better world, then, by and large, everything falls into place. Looking through the events of world history, one can find that there were many more bloody and cruel events than happy ones. Take slavery, for example. This terrible custom, to take the life and time of another person into your power, was, is and, most likely, will exist even in modern society.
We are accustomed to the fact that in America there was black slavery, in Russia the same essence was called serfdom, in ancient times slavery existed almost everywhere, in one size or another, and now slavery, even though the law is prohibited by law, but still exists outside the public and human rules.
At first it all started out almost innocently and looked more like a contract. So, this is how it all happened. The man wanted to move to the country of great opportunities, the notorious America, but he did not have money to pay for travel, but he had a lot of desire to get to this place, then he had a way out. The essence of the exit is that a person signed a contract with an entrepreneur, on the basis of which the latter paid him the desired travel, and the guest was to become a slave in the country, but for no more than five years. After signing the contract, the individual went straight to the auction, where he was bought and he began to fulfill his duties as a weak-willed servant.
Not everyone wanted to spend five whole years as a slave and managed to escape in order to start life from scratch in a new country.
This method of working off was sometimes beneficial not only to free prisoners, but also to prisoners, who were given the opportunity to change the conditions of their detention in places of detention and to cut the term if it was long enough. However, in the case of prisoners, the terms of the contract changed slightly. They had to sell themselves into slavery not for five, but for seven years.
