Not without reason there is an assumption that it was representatives of highly developed civilizations who flew to us. And what is typical, many supporters of this assumption believe that these "gods" flew to us from other stellar systems. Consider whether this is so. As you know, the closest star to us is Alpha Centauri and it is located at a distance of 4 x. light years. For such a flight, spacecraft are required that run on nuclear fuel or use not a jet, but a gravitational principle of movement. But on a ship with a nuclear engine it is not possible to descend to the planet. Firstly, its mass will not allow, and secondly it is fraught with radioactive contamination of the planet. A gravity driven engine is likely to operate without noise, flame or smoke. But a liquid-propellant engine (liquid-propellant jet engine) and a turbojet engine (solid-fired jet engine) operate with smoke, roar and flame, and on such an engine it is profitable to travel only within the star system, and even then to the nearest planets.
