Accidentally got into the maax_sf Instagram, where you can see the St. Petersburg communal apartments. Oh, what beauty is lost. Some have already been irretrievably lost, some have passed into the hands of connoisseurs for restoration. Well, the main part is not noticed by anyone and is used in the usual way. People change something, cover it up, paint over, beat it off.
Probably just for Peter this is all very familiar and no one pays much attention to it, but for the guests of the city who are accustomed to square boxes, all this is very surprising. I somehow lived a little in St. Petersburg on the street. Rubinstein, so there are such old wooden railings and doors in the entrance, that every time going down I felt a touch of history.

I talked somehow with a friend who was installing plastic windows in St. Petersburg. He says in some rooms you can't turn around at all. Barely barely carried the frames to the stairwell. Here the housing stock was "cut" in due time.
