This concept is closely related to the concept - myth. But still it is different. A legend is nothing more than a legend about some event in history or about some historical person.
Religious and social legends
Ancient legends are divided into two types: religious and social. Religious legends are understandably derived from the word religion. That is, the legend will be about religion. And in a social legend, a person is affected, his behavior, values and more.
The most striking example of a legend can be the example of Atlantis. Indeed, many have been talking about her for a long time, but in fact no one has seen her.
First, Plato, the great philosopher, told about Atlantis. The legend tells how and why an entire country perished. That is, someone told. This is the difference from the myth.
Initially, the legends were not written down anywhere. They were oral and passed on to the people through oral speech. And much later they began to write them down. And after a while, the legends began to be imposed on music. That is, the music plays and the person tells a certain legend.
Often in the legend, many events are exaggerated, embellished. The main characters were often Gods and various supernatural forces.
