For archaeologists, the most interesting, perhaps, are the ancient burials. Since there you can find not only the remains of a person, but also objects from his daily life.
I recently discovered an article in a foreign source. It told about the finds in the burial of the Longobard necropolis in northern Italy. A skeleton of a man was found in this burial.
Why are these human remains so remarkable? And the fact that, in fact, he is a kind of cyborg.
He is missing part of his right hand, and a dagger is inserted instead.
Since childhood, I remember a book about Peter Pan, one of the heroes of which is Captain Hook. This captain had a hook prosthesis instead of his right arm.
It turns out that this was not the author's fantasy. Such prostheses could well have been, as evidenced by the find of archaeologists.
Apparently, during his lifetime it was a man - a warrior. The resulting injury led to the amputation of part of the arm. Judging by the careful processing of the bone, the surgeon of that time was highly qualified.

Archaeologists date this burial to about the 6th - 8th century AD. It follows from this that the society of the people of that time was quite humane. Where does this conclusion come from?
The approximate age of a buried man is 40-50 years. Judging by the callus at the site of the amputation, the injury was sustained long before death. The fact that a person in those days could live for a long time without one hand indicates that he was taken care of. Judging by the condition of his teeth, he ate quite well, although he clearly could not take part in obtaining and processing food. Most likely, he could only perform the function of a warrior.
Also, according to the condition of the teeth, one can understand how he had to fix the dagger on his hand. Apparently, he periodically took it off, and then tied it up again with leather strips, tightening them with his teeth. Therefore, the enamel on the teeth on the right side of the jaw is erased.
But even this man could not fulfill the role of a full-fledged war. The condition of the bones of the spine suggests the presence of osteoarthritis. This means that he could not make sudden movements. At the very least, it was very painful.
Today it is difficult to say why he was given a prosthesis in the form of a dagger. Perhaps he was simply engaged in some kind of economic activity.
But two points can be stated. Firstly, already in those distant times, people found the opportunity to continue living while remaining, in fact, a cripple, and secondly, they remained under the care of the society in which they were. Apparently not everything was so cruel then. The humanity of the people nearby helped this man live a long, at that time, and quite active life, being, in fact, an ancient cyborg.
