Surprisingly, it is a fact that mankind does not know for certain what one of its brightest representatives, the Italian architect, painter, sculptor, naturalist, anatomist, inventor, musician, writer and just a universal person, Leonardo da Vinci looked like. All guesses about his appearance are based on the so-called "Turin self-portrait", but there is no direct evidence that Leonardo depicted himself in the picture. The situation is intended to be corrected by a team of scientists representing different fields of science, which plans to recreate the appearance of Leonardo da Vinci from his DNA.

The corresponding genetic material, in the form of microscopic particles of skin and hair, scientists were able to extract directly from the paintings belonging to the hand of the master. Moreover, the researchers even had fingerprints left by Leonardo on the pages of handwritten journals.

It is assumed that computer simulations, carried out by geneticists, microbiologists and FBI employees who have experience in such cases, will finally be able to partially restore the appearance of a genius, for example, to establish his height, face type and figure.
