Despite the fact that a person has been working in space for a long time, boldly explores the depths of the ocean, created a digital economy and high-speed computers, but at the same time, the mechanism of the functioning of the human brain remains a mystery. But it depends on him what a person thinks, what he feels, what he does.

Today it is no longer a secret what we see and hear with the help of specific parts of the brain. It is the brain that produces the hormone of pleasure, helps to eliminate pain and responds to a surge of strength …

Today, there is already an understanding of the functioning of the human body as a whole, with the exception of the brain - it turned out to be the most difficult object for research. And this is quite understandable: the brain contains more than one hundred billion neurons, each of which is connected with no less than 10 thousand other neurons. Such a volume of research work is still an overwhelming task.

However, research has clarified some important aspects of brain function. It turns out that the brain is the largest energy receiver in the body: the heart and lungs, supplying oxygen, work for it. The formation of brain cells is completed only by the age of 17. The brain cannot experience pain because it lacks pain receptors. Headache is the result of a reaction to negative conditions of the membrane in which the brain is located. Studies have shown that men have larger brains and more weight than women. However, these facts do not affect the level of intelligence (by the way, the brain of a patient suffering from idiocy turned out to be the largest in weight and size).

Also, the most common misconception is that the brain is only working at 10%. Scientists have proven that the brain uses all its resources. In addition, in a crisis situation, the brain can "connect" its reserves. But such a situation is very dangerous: from receiving such "doping", a person can die if the brain exhausts all its capabilities. Scientists have found that when life is threatened, when “the whole life passes” before the eyes, the brain accelerates its functioning many times over and looks for a similar situation and a way to save a person in memory.

Everyone can help their brain by purposefully making it work. It is known that memorizing texts, solving mathematical and logical puzzles, learning any foreign language and the desire to constantly replenish their knowledge base are the very training necessary for the brain.

To our greatest happiness, the brain has the property of plasticity: this means that it is capable, when one of its parts is damaged, to transfer the performance of the lost function to its other part. In addition, it is this quality of the brain that is involved in the acquisition of new skills.

Another important feature is quite "into the hands" of a person - brain cells have the ability to recover. The nerve cells of the brain regenerate, themselves making the "repair" of the injured brain.

There is an assumption that during sleep, the brain continues to work actively. At this time, he is busy translating "records" of events into long-term memory and fixing it. Comprehension of the events that occurred during the day occurs when a person is sleeping. And so that in a dream, the sleeper does not repeat the movements that a person sees in a dream, the brain secretes a special hormone into the body.

Back in 1968, scientists found a "bug detector". The functioning of this part of the brain allows a person to perform routine work without thinking at all. For example, while washing or combing hair, a person simultaneously thinks about his upcoming affairs. The "detector" carefully monitors the correctness of the person performing his actions. So, sometimes, a person, feeling an incomprehensible anxiety, returns home and sees that he forgot to turn off the iron. "Detector" allows, almost automatically, to perform many daily tasks, bypassing erroneous options.

Over the past years, scientists have managed to learn a lot about the "internal" control of the human body, but still no one can point to the real "control center" of the brain.

Since the 19th century, researchers have been studying the anatomical structure of the brain of people who had outstanding abilities in any professional field. In many medical institutions of the world, the brains of scientists were stored, who bequeathed them to science during their lifetime. Russian scientists also did not lag behind their foreign colleagues. So, during the 19-20 centuries, the results of the study of the brain of General Mikhail Skobelev, Mendeleev, mathematician Chebyshev, writer Saltykov-Shchedrin, Maxim Gorky, Lenin, Mayakovsky, Stalin were made public. In Europe, the brain of Sophia Kovalevskaya and Ivan Turgenev was studied. It turned out that the brain of a talented person is no different from an ordinary one. Therefore, it is still unknown what exactly makes a person talented. One can only assume that the current stage of development, it is impossible to knowwhich part of the brain is responsible for the level of talent.

Undoubtedly, the study of the human brain is a very interesting task, albeit extremely difficult. After all, everything that has been possible to explore so far, including the secrets of the galaxy, has been incomparably easier than studying the human brain. Perhaps this task has no solution, since neither the level of knowledge, nor modern devices, nor well-known methods can yet reveal to us the secrets of the human brain.
