People, seized by the "little measure", run to the north, tearing their clothes."

A resident of Nizhny Tagil Vasily Mekhonoshin put forward a new hypothesis for the death of the Dyatlov group. The author presented his ideas in a letter to the editorial office. Against the background of more than 80 versions existing today, it is distinguished by its originality: in his opinion, the cause of the tragedy could be a rare disease, which the peoples of the north know about. The Pomors call her "merryachka", the Eskimos call her "the call of the North Star", the Sami call her emeric, the Yakuts call her shamanic call, and the English doctor Watson called her "polar hysteria."

“Once I was visiting my daughter, who taught at the largest university in the Arctic Circle - the Murmansk Arctic State University, where they told me about a strange illness,” the researcher says. - The disease manifests itself in the fact that people are temporarily disconnected from the real perception of the environment - they hear voices, sounds, see angels or beautiful female faces, and at the same time repeat movements. There is evidence of sudden withdrawals to the north of whole camps of northern peoples, leaving burning hearths and crying babies."

So people are affected by cosmic radiation, which is much more aggressive near the poles, since the Earth's magnetic field is weaker there (hence the aurora borealis). “Witnesses noted that people who are seized by the 'little merch' tend to move to the north, become insensitive to pain and cold, some tear their clothes on, and if someone tries to stop them, they become aggressive and resist with superhuman strength. The condition can last for a long time, convulsions and sobs can be observed at the end, and then deep sleep. A person comes to his senses unexpectedly and does not remember any of this,”says Vasily.

According to the researcher, he himself or his loved ones have never encountered this disease, but his close friend, a mountain climber, said that he had encountered similar phenomena.

They believe that a whole complex of factors played an evil role in the tragedy of the Dyatlovites (“I would not discount the possibility of an avalanche or“snow board”or the harmful effects of a powerful hurricane at extremely low temperatures,” the researcher notes). However, it is precisely the "polar hysteria", in his opinion, that explains why the Dyatlovites, having got out of the tent, threw it, all their belongings and rushed into the valley.

“The actions of tourists to leave their tents and move in a northeastern direction, despite the cold, darkness and hurricane winds, are very similar to the group actions of people who have fallen into a state of 'little merch',” says Mekhonoshin. - The awakening of tourists from this state could have happened at the foot of the mountain, near a cedar, and not at the same time for everyone. If we assume that it happened in this way, one can imagine the horror that gripped the awakened people who found themselves half-dressed at night in the forest, in the cold, far from the tent. " Thus, Mekhonoshin suggests, the "Dyatlovites" could freeze and die.

Mekhonoshin's version seemed interesting to recognized experts - "woodpeckers". “Of course, the Dyatlov Pass is not beyond the Arctic Circle, it’s just the Northern Urals, but the place is still in many respects anomalous - we are going there specially this year with magnetometers and other equipment to measure all sorts of indicators, including the magnetic field Earth, - told "URA. RU" the head of the Fund for the memory of the group Dyatlov Yuri Kuntsevich. “At least the prosecutors, who are now conducting a check on the death of the Dyatlov group tourists, must listen to the announced version.”
