Several French cinemas have canceled screenings of the popular American horror film "The Curse of Annabelle", according to Radio France internationale.
In cinemas in Marseille, Montpellier, Strasbourg and Paris, the film was removed from screenings after numerous incidents with outbursts of aggression among viewers, which are expressed in inappropriate behavior, insults to other viewers and fights.
According to the manager of a cinema in Montpellier, “A bunch of violent 14-year-olds walked in, insulted each other, spat at each other, and others urinated on the seats. It was like a zoo."
Similar scenes were seen in other large cities in France, forcing movie theater managers to call the police and promptly vacate the theater.
The movie "The Curse of Annabelle" may soon return to the screens of cinemas, however, the security will inspect the audience before entering the cinema, as well as be on duty in the halls during the viewing.
According to film critic Alain Grasse of BFM TV, young people come to such films to "blow off steam." And although they do not take the film seriously, it becomes an excuse to behave wildly, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, similar violent incidents have also been seen during the box office of such popular horror films as Paranormal Activity and Sinister. The latter was banned in more than 40 cinemas.
The Curse of Annabelle is an American horror film directed by John R. Leonetti. A spin-off of The Conjuring, directed by James Wan, who this time produced the film. It premiered in the United States on October 3, 2014. Russian premiere on September 25, 2014. The film shows the story of an evil spirit from the movie "The Conjuring" who possessed a doll and calls himself Annabelle.
