There are many lakes on the planet, in which, presumably, relic lizards live. The most famous such reservoir is Loch Ness, but in our country there are also several lakes in which underwater monsters are believed to be found.

Yakut lake of fear

There are many lakes in Yakutia, but the most famous is the one that bears the name Labynkyr. It is located in the Oymyakon district in the east of the region. Nearby, within a radius of hundreds of kilometers, there are no settlements, and there are no roads to the lake, so you can get there only by air, or by all-terrain vehicle. From time immemorial, local residents, Evenki and Sakha have passed on from generation to generation legends about the terrible "Labynkyr line". This creature is huge in size, with a large head, the total length of which is 8-10 meters. There are many cases of observation of this monster, both by local residents and members of geological parties. Moreover, the animal, presumably living in the lake, is very aggressive - it repeatedly attacked local residents and dragged dogs and deer under the water. There is a known case when an Evenk passing bydecided to tie the deer to a horn sticking out of the ice near the shore. While he was leaving to make a fire, he heard a crack and saw how the ice broke, and something dragged the animals under the water.

Several Cosmopoisk expeditions were organized on the lake, while the existence of the monster was not confirmed, but it was also not refuted. It turned out that the reservoir has some oddities. So, it freezes much later than other local lakes, and all winter, despite frosts down to -50 degrees, it is unsafe to move on its ice. No explanation has been found for this phenomenon. There are openings on the ice, next to which traces of some large creature are often visible. The bottom of the lake is also not without oddities - a crack was found in it, as well as cavities, which, presumably, can connect it with neighboring water bodies.

Until now, as to who the "Labynkyr devil" is, researchers differ in their opinions. Some believe that this is a relict lizard that has managed to survive since prehistoric times. Others suggest that a giant old fish - a catfish, or pike - is mistaken for a monster. However, the latest version has not been confirmed - there are no fish in the lake, the mass of which exceeds 60 kg. This lake is one of the most amazing in our country, since a predatory creature unknown to science is supposedly hiding in its waters.

Mystery Brosno

Lake Brosno is another legendary reservoir located in the Andreapolsky district of the Tver region. It is famous for the fact that since the 19th century, local residents observed a certain creature on it, which repeatedly attacked fishermen. The huge mouth of the monster, capable of swallowing an entire boat at once, was described in particular detail. Sometimes it was also mentioned that the monster is fire-breathing.

In our time, rumors about the Brosno monster continue to live, since from time to time new eyewitnesses appear, claiming that they saw it with my own eyes. In addition, there really were tragic cases on the lake, when people died in a mysterious way while in a boat.

The answer to the Brosno phenomenon

Since 2002, the Cosmopoisk organization has begun to study the reservoir. Several expeditions were carried out, during which the mystery of the monster was solved. As it turned out, there are no predatory monsters in the lake, and the reason for the rumors about them was such a phenomenon as gas hydrates.

Gas hydrates are minerals that can only exist at a certain temperature and pressure. There are several types of gas hydrates, in which water comes into contact with a certain gas - methane, hydrogen sulfide, and others. When the external conditions change, the mineral decomposes into its components - water and gas. Most often, these compounds occur in permafrost regions and at the bottom of water bodies. Sometimes the destruction of a mineral occurs explosively, which is provoked by an external influence - a movement of the crust, a change in temperature, and others.

Such hydrates pose the main danger when they occur in bottom sediments. When a mineral is destroyed, gas bubbles enter the water, which rise upward, so the water density drops sharply. If at this moment a vessel is on the surface, it can instantly sink, as it loses its buoyancy in such water. The members of the expedition found themselves in a similar situation, but managed to sail to a safe distance. As a result, the researchers concluded that the legends about the monster swallowing boats and people appeared precisely due to this phenomenon. As for the huge excitement around Brosno, it is believed that it is being artificially intensified to attract tourists.

Despite the fact that no ancient monster was found in Lake Brosno, there are many other lakes where the situation is not so clear-cut. Therefore, the question of the existence of lake monsters remains open, since there is still no solid evidence of their existence, despite many witnesses.
