In the Vologda region, in its northeastern part, there is a zone known among researchers of anomalous phenomena called the Medveditskaya ridge. It is a chain of squat hills, the height of which does not exceed 300 m, stretching along the Medveditsa River. This place is repeatedly mentioned in ancient legends as unkind and damned. Judging by the traces on the birch trees, the size of ball lightning varies from a few centimeters to half a meter or more. Of particular interest is the fact that lightning has been flying along the same route for many years, judging by the tracks in the trees.
There are other places on the Bear where lightning strikes just as often. They are scorched bald patches with bare ground, with a well-defined border.
There is a version that ball lightning could be the cause of the death of the shepherd Bisen Mamaev, who died under strange circumstances in the 90s. Mamaev and his partner drove cattle through the Devil's Lair, which is notorious among the local population, and sat down to rest. The partner walked away from him only for a few minutes, and when he returned, he found a charred corpse. During the investigation, it turned out that the shepherd was burned, as it were, from the inside, while his clothes were almost not damaged. It should be noted that this is not the only case of loss of life in this location in recent centuries.

No less amazing mystery of the Medveditsa zone is the ancient tunnels that pierce the thickness of the earth under the hills. Judging by the legends, they were known back in tsarist times, when fugitive criminals and horse thieves were hiding there. But nothing is known about who could have built them. During the Second World War, the Germans used them for covert movement, so all known entrances to them were blocked. At present, the researchers managed to find one of the blocked entrances and get inside, but they did not succeed in getting far.
From what they saw, the researchers concluded that the tunnels are an artificial structure, the age of which is unknown, and most likely exceeds several thousand years. The walls of the tunnel were made in an unknown way - the rock in them was as if melted or burnt. The material of the walls resembles concrete that has crumbled from time to time. Further studies of the tunnels, carried out from the surface of the earth with the help of equipment, showed that the tunnel stretches further and expands. At the same time, it remains flat throughout, which is another proof of its artificial origin. Further, according to the readings of the instruments, the tunnel is connected to a huge cavity. UFO on the Bear
UFOs also often appear on the Medveditskaya ridge, and eyewitnesses observe not only flights, but also landings. The most common are the so-called three-stars - objects of a triangular shape. It should be especially noted that the landings and overflights of UFOs were repeatedly recorded by researchers in the photo and video. After that, traces of a triangular shape were found on the ground, where the grass seemed to be crushed and burned. Instrumental measurements of such a trace showed an increased background radiation inside, as well as deviations in the course of time. In addition, the soil inside the track became sterile - there were no microorganisms or bacteria in it. A few years later, the planting trail was completely overgrown with bushes and trees, and their growth rate was abnormally high.
