Researchers have identified two main factors that affect the speed of the end of the world in the event of a massive zombie attack - the likelihood and speed of "zombification", as well as the lifespan of such "converted" creatures. In the scenario that scientists used in their model, infection by a zombie bite occurred in 90 percent of cases, and the zombies themselves lived for about 20 days, dying of thirst and hunger, RIA Novosti notes.
Even if the epidemic begins with just one infected person living in a densely populated area, in 100 days only 181 people and about 190 million zombies will remain on the planet, experts calculated.
