American astrophysicists have presented a fundamentally new theory: in the future, they will be able to transfer planets into the so-called "habitable zone" so that they become suitable for life. To do this, they will need a satellite with a gravitational thrust.
It is difficult to move the planets of the solar system, but it is possible, according to American scientists. Astrophysicist Neil Tyson and former NASA employee Donald Kessler said that the likelihood of developing such technology is 100%, writes New York Daily News.
“Let's say there is a planet on which we want to live. Its location in relation to the Sun is not very important, in the future we will be able to transfer it to the "habitable zone" so that the distance to the Sun would allow water on the planet's surface to be in a liquid state, "said Neil Tyson.
The implementation of this idea implies huge costs. “I don't know yet where we will get so much energy to move the planets,” the scientist noted. The most difficult thing will be to fix the planet for subsequent movement. Various researchers suggest using for this, for example, huge nets or boosters of increased power.
Another scientist, Donald Kessler, admitted to reporters that mankind, most likely, will first learn to create an atmosphere suitable for life on other planets, and the transfer of celestial bodies to the "habitable zone" is a scenario for the very distant future.
