A team of Russian scientists led by Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Alexander Teplyashin will perform a unique operation, during which the girl from Krasnoyarsk, who crushed her fingers as a child, will restore this defect.
25-year-old Anna agreed to go under the knife of surgeons, because since childhood she suffers from the fact that her middle finger is one phalanx shorter than all the others.
Specialists for the girl will grow a piece of the missing finger bone on the basis of stem cells taken from her and then transplant this blank into her.
According to Teplyashin, no one else in the world has been able to do this before. Russian scientists have conducted numerous experiments on animals, which have shown very good results.
In addition, a team of scientists from the Center for Cellular Technologies has developed and patented in the USA and the EU a unique method of growing in vitro of a mineral blank, which, after saturation with stem cells, is implanted into the rest of the patient's finger.
At the moment, scientists are looking for sponsors for Anya, who will become the first test of the latest technology.
