Chapelle dom Hue, located on the island of Guernsey in the English Channel, is asking archaeologists for the second difficult mystery in two years.
In 2017, archaeologists unearthed a medieval grave of a porpoise (a dolphin-like small toothed whale) here.
And no one was able to explain why this animal was buried in a separate grave as a person, although in those days (approximately 13 century AD) they were considered ordinary food.
Archaeologists also did not find any signs of a religious background, that is, the porpoise was not for the locals something like a totem or an object of worship. Dolphins in Christianity had a special symbolic meaning, but then the locals would have buried all dolphins in this way, and not just one.
According to archaeologists, the remains of the porpoise were placed in the grave with great care and carefully buried. Not far from this place they also dug up the bones of a donkey, but they just casually thrown into some kind of ditch. So it wasn't just a matter of respect for animals.

And in 2018, archaeologists unearthed another mysterious grave, this time with human remains. The grave is from about the middle of the 15th century and is located near the dolphin's grave.
And this skeleton was also unusual, it lacked hands, and the skull was either extremely deformed during life or deliberately damaged after death, it is not yet clear why.
At the skull, the facial bones with the upper jaw and the eye sockets are completely invisible, and a huge hole has been broken in the frontal part.
It is possible that this man was a monk; in past centuries, monks came to this island to be in peace and to engage in self-contemplation. They buried him in clothes and archaeologists found buttons from her in the grave. He was very small in height, only about 150 cm.
Archaeologists were very interested in this find, especially how this man lost his hands. Was it a lifetime mutilation or was it connected with some kind of burial ceremony? According to CNN, archaeologists are now trying to find out.
Almost nothing is mentioned in the press about the strange skull, except that it is “badly damaged”.
