During World War II, this dog named Labrador was a faithful companion of the British flight group Dambusters (the famous British squadron destroyed two large dams in Germany in 1943). According to legend, the dog was buried in the same place where the memorial stands now, in Lincolnshire
Paranormal researchers in the UK are convinced that the ghost of a dog regularly appears in this place. The most compelling confirmation of their words is a photograph taken in 1980, when the figure of a black dog, like two drops of water similar to a Labrador, appeared in a group photograph of people who were photographed in front of the memorial. According to the photographer, the dog was quite material, but appeared literally out of nowhere in a matter of minutes before the shutter clicked, and then also suddenly and without a trace disappeared.
However, the ghost can also be seen outside the photographs. One of the researchers, being near the monument, suddenly felt a strong cold at the level of the legs. He measured the altitude where the cold was felt. It turned out just under the height of the dog.
Another "ghost catcher" stayed overnight at a military base near the memorial and swore in the morning that he heard a strong growl of a dog very close. His words are confirmed by other people, who also heard a strong and low roar near the memorial with their own ears, which looks more like a warning than an aggressive sound.

The owner of the dog was the pilot Guy Gibson. He often accompanied the Labrador aircraft to departing combat missions. One day the dog was found dead outside the base. Everyone took it as a bad omen. Gibson buried the Labrador near the aircraft hangar. Soon the base was raided by German aircraft. Gibson himself died later, in 1944.
