An unusual guide to iconic places of the city has been published in Yekaterinburg. According to one of the authors, architect Polina Ivanova, the publication contains rare pictures of buildings and streets of the Ural capital, many of which are unknown even to historians.

The guide was developed by specialists of the Bureau "Group of Architectural Initiatives". The release was sponsored by the Association of Builders of the Urals, the organizing committee of the forum for high-rise construction "Forum Russia 100+" and the townspeople. Employees of the State Archives of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Sverdlovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore and the Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg helped the authors search for rare photographs.

For the convenience of the guide's users, the city is divided into 8 routes on its pages, which are provided with the rarest pictures of buildings, monuments and iconic persons of Yekaterinburg. In addition, the images of some streets are colored infographics on the principle of "how it was - how it became". According to the authors, this will help to better trace the evolution of urban spaces.

An anthology of “urban legends”, including mystical ones, will be a separate highlight of the new guidebook. In addition, the authors decided to pay attention to the history of Yekaterinburg as the main "printing press" of pre-revolutionary Russia. As the curator of the museum of the history of Yekaterinburg Sergei Skrobov told Uralinformburo, in the 18th - early 19th centuries 80% of all copper coins of the Russian Empire were produced in the city.
