One of the most interesting theories about space is the Kardashev theory. Designed to describe what alien civilizations might look like, it defines our own place in comparison to what space basically provides.
What is the Kardashev scale?
Originally proposed by the Russian astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev, this scale divides potential civilizations for the use of available energy into 3 stages.
The author believed that civilization is measured at the cosmic level by its energy consumption and the technology it uses. According to Kardashev, these two aspects run parallel to each other.
The more energy is generated, the more technology is required to produce it. Therefore, a society that has a high energy output must have the appropriate technology.
The bad news is … human civilization doesn't even have a place on this scale yet.

Type I civilization
This civilization of a relatively low level, which we have almost reached, is characterized by the fact that it uses all the energy of a neighboring star. Hello solar energy!
In addition, natural disasters can also be converted into energy, and not destroyed by civilizations of this level. But most importantly, our energy production scale must be 100,000 times larger than it is now to reach this stage.

An idea is a device that can capture the energy released from fusion that powers the stars. This energy could then theoretically be transferred back to its home planet for use.

Type III civilization
Finally, we got to the highest stage. Advanced civilizations of this level are steadily using all the energy available in their galaxy.
Complete colonization and energy harvested from hundreds of millions of stars are driving a civilization of this magnitude. If such an advanced society existed, then it would be ahead of us in development by at least a million years.
Such a civilization would probably already be able to travel through the universe at a speed exceeding the speed of light, using wormholes or some other form of travel.
The technology employed by such a society would most likely appear to be magic to us at our current level. In truth, if beings of such power met us, they would probably terraform our world due to our low development.
It is worth noting that in recent years, researchers have expanded the scale into two stages: the Type IV and Type of the V. Universal and Multiversal civilizations, respectively, these groups will go beyond time and space as we know them.
Considering that civilizations of these types are simply incomprehensible to us, scientists did not officially add them to the scale.
The point is that we are type 0. We have wasted centuries fighting each other for resources and trying to win this fight when we had to cooperate.
