Once I was asked a very important question that requires a detailed and detailed commentary. I quote its essence: “You often write that you should not put money and other things in a coffin. To answer this question intelligibly, first I will tell you a little about the content of the famous "Book of Spirits" by Alan Kardek, written over a century ago. This book contains information received by a group of spiritualists in the course of communication with some fairly enlightened souls of people who are no longer with us. So, for some more or less long period of time after death, the soul is in confusion (or even in a deep state of shock), and does not fully understand what is happening to it now. She visits places that she knew during her lifetime, tries to communicate with people she knows and, most importantly, is not immediately completely relieved of her earthly ideas, habits and addictions. Let's talk about this last circumstance in more detail.

In occultism, there is such a thing as "larva". Larva means energy parasitic creatures that consume the energy of a person who has any addictions. That is, every alcoholic, smoker, drug addict, as well as every person possessed by some kind of passion or idea, is parasitized by his own "larva", which supports the force of habit. Often, even a strong love attachment is actually provoked by the same type of larva. Details about the larva are described in my article: "WHAT IS THE LARVA AND HOW TO GET RID OF IT?" In many religious teachings and spiritual practices, the idea is supported that one should get rid of larva (that is, from strong attachments) during life, since after the death of the physical body this process will be much more painful and painful. After all, painful larvae remain with a person's soul even after his death. In the above-mentioned "Book of Spirits", among other author's illustrations, there is also a picture, which depicts a man with a cigarette in his hand, two chains diverge from his head. Thus, the author depicted the heavy shackles of bad habits that restrain a person's spiritual growth.

For example, it happens that a faint-hearted person ends his earthly life with suicide because of unrequited love or betrayal of a loved one. However, after his death, he will have another “surprise”: the torments of jealousy will be even stronger and longer, only there is nowhere to get away from them! It is neither a dream to forget, nor vodka, nor to climb into a loop. So, "a man hid from problems," right? The same smoker, even after death, really needs cigarettes, but he suffers from the inability to satisfy his need. The presence of cigarettes in the coffin serves the soul as some illusory consolation, although, of course, it does not change anything. For the reasons described above, the souls of deceased people can obsessively dream of relatives who have remained on earth and complain that they need cigarettes, drinks, money (for which they could probably buy something useful), etc. That is why the opinion has appeared among the people that the deceased must be provided with money and some personal belongings before the funeral, which are placed in the coffin.

And now I ask you for special attention! Leaving money and some things in the coffin will not help your soul to calm down its suffering. All the same, she will have to naturally cleanse herself of her earthly attachments, after which the soul freed from heavy "larva" will be able to ascend to the higher worlds. The state of getting rid of the "larvae" accumulated during life is thus the notorious "purgatory". However, the person who left money or his personal belongings in the coffin will certainly create a lot of serious problems for himself. Here is a special example. Recently, I had a woman at a reception who put a pack of cigarettes, a bottle of vodka and a can of coffee in the coffin of her late father. And on top of that, she left some money in the coffin. Since then, she suddenly developed an aversion to cigarettes, which, in principle, is not bad. However, she now suffers from an allergy to both alcohol and coffee. And the money, of course, began to leave her.

However, it happens that the deceased too often begins to dream of his earthly relatives and persistently ask for money. In this case, it is permissible to carry a little change to his grave. In practical magic, there is a rather significant section, called "ransom magic" and containing rituals that require leaving some money on the graves. For example, recently I was asked a question about a magic ritual for lack of money, published in a newspaper. So, in most of these cases, I recommend limiting yourself to candles for the peace of the soul and waiting for a while. The magical rite mentioned in the question is capable of blocking the communication of the soul of a deceased person with his former relatives. Of course, the first reaction of the deceased may be resentment and resentment, but in the future, this situation is beneficial to everyone.

But not always the initiative to communicate with their earthly relatives belongs to the deceased. Will the cigarettes left in his coffin help the deceased? Of course not! The same applies to all other material attachments and habits.

Do the dead need money? Of course, they are not needed. Although the souls of deceased people, who are in a state of confusion and illusory consciousness, for some time seriously believe that they could probably buy themselves everything they need if they had money (apparently, in some special supermarket for the deceased). It's just that the souls of the deceased do not always fully understand where they are now and what they are, therefore they continue to think in terms of the material world in which everything you need is bought for money. So they disturb their relatives, complaining to them in their dreams about the lack of money or something else. By the way, this is where the origins of the harmful tradition of leaving money in the coffin lie (not at all to “buy a place in the next world”, but to “buy something useful”). But leaving the objects of the material world in the coffin, relatives will not help the deceased in any way,but on the contrary, they will slow down his liberation and enlightenment, along the way getting multiple problems for themselves.

The deceased does not need money "there", because there are no shops "there"! The deceased will not be able to smoke, look at the watch, get family photos out of his pocket, etc. Losing loved ones, many at the funeral tend to commit some inadequate and, most importantly, harmful acts, being confident that the deceased needs a certain set of things in the afterlife. But, leaving some thing of your own in the coffin, you bury something in your life with your own hands: health, peace of mind, financial well-being or the opportunity to create a new family.
