Speleologists called the outlandish lizard Alien
Paleontologists from Irkutsk are now studying the skeleton of a strange creature, which cavers from the Arabica club brought them. The researchers found the mummy in a cave near the Belaya River. And they have already been nicknamed Alien, like a character from the Steven Spielberg film. The lizard found by them looks so unlike everything known to nature.
- Look, the length is 80 centimeters, with a toothed skull. But the main thing is not this, but the spikes on the tail. They bristled and ossified. None of the known animals have such a thing, - says Sergey VOLKOV, the organizer of the expedition to the caves. - Paleontologists have to give an answer one of these days, what kind of monster it is.
In fact, the researchers climbed into the caves not for this, but for the treasure. Somewhere here, in the caves, Kolchak's gold must be hidden. According to the information considered reliable by the expedition, one of the 7 echelons with the foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Empire was buried here. There are even testimonies from people who saw boxes and bags.
- Actually, these caves are traversed. And cavers have known for a long time. But usually, as it happens - everything is studied new, and the old is abandoned, - says Sergei Volkov. - And no one thought to find new "skeletons in the closet" here. We found it! True, not at all what they were looking for. Let's go for Kolchak's gold again.
In the meantime, the researchers took up the mysterious beast.
“We have already determined that the found lizard is most likely some kind of ancient otter,” the speleologists say. - But it hurts his tail unusual! Can there be a tail of thorns? Unless it is a mutation unknown to nature.
The fact that the animal has survived imperishable is not surprising. Limestone! The caves near Irkutsk are famous for the mummies of bears, wolves and other animals. However, there is a lot of fur left on the otter. So one of the versions of speleologists is that the animal did not live in prehistoric times, but quite recently. And the second is just the opposite - that the find is already tens of thousands of years old. And in general, maybe these are the remains of a dinosaur otter? In any case, the mystery of the "alien" from the cave is still waiting for its explorer.
