The US Department of Health called for funding for the creation of chimeras. They are supposed to be obtained by crossing animal embryos and human stem cells.
The experiment, interesting from a purely scientific point of view, has already raised concerns around the world in terms of its ethics and scientific limitations. In 2015, a moratorium was imposed on work of this nature. Now it is proposed to cancel, citing the possibility of making changes in the brain of animals.
Also, American scientists believe that work in this direction will help in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Other experts believe that, for example, monkeys or mice with human thinking can create serious problems for the population. Also opponents are those who think that donor organs will be freely taken from the new creatures.
Now the study of the proposals of American doctors is aimed at public discussion, which will last 30 days.
