Fitness trackers, ECG sensors and other useful sensors have only one (but rather significant) drawback - you can simply forget to put them on your hand or charge them. What if you put the device inside the human body? Sounds like the opening of a cyberpunk piece? Not at all. Almost anyone will be able to do this very soon thanks to the miniature implantable trackers from IOTA Biosciences.
IOTA Biosciences is not just another startup organized in one of the business incubators. It was created by scientists from the University of California at Berkeley, Jose Carmena and Michelle Maharbiz, who worked at a higher educational institution to improve the operation of miniature electronic devices and their application in medical practice. Moreover, the developments of scientists look very amusing.
As a result, scientists did not want to abandon such an ambitious idea and once found a solution to the problem - you need to use ultrasound.
The created sensor is so small that it can be attached to a single nerve or muscle fiber. By re-sending pulses from the sensor, information can be read. For the "installation" does not require serious surgical manipulations. According to scientists, everything is done through a small laparoscopic incision. And if desired, the device can be “easily removed”.

Now the experts are ready to submit their development to the FDA for approval of the production technology, which is scheduled to begin next year.
