Scientists from the Potsdam Institute for the Study of Climate Change (Germany) have proved that dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago from darkness and cold. Their article in the Tribune de Genève states that it was these conditions that killed the ancient reptiles.

Previously, this hypothesis was very popular among climatologists, but it was never scientifically proven. About 65 years ago, an asteroid crashed into our planet. This led to climate change due to the fact that huge clouds of dust blocked the Earth from the sun and led to an ice age. But it turned out that at that time the situation was much more serious.

The work of scientists says that the ancient lizards died from the darkness and cold that came on the planet after the collision with the asteroid. In addition to them, a large number of other species of animals, in particular, mammoths, disappeared from the face. An asteroid that fell on the island of Yucatan generated not only a layer of dust, but also a fog of sulfuric acid, which covered the upper balls of the atmosphere.

After that, the entire surface of the Earth plunged into pitch darkness. For three years, the temperature did not exceed zero degrees, and the total temperature drop was about 26 degrees. Climatologists have established that the weather conditions on the planet have improved only after 30 years. During this period, many plants that needed photosynthesis disappeared, and due to the lack of food, herbivores and predators, including dinosaurs.
