There are a huge variety of ghost stories among the people. However, usually people who were aliens from the underworld, as a rule, limit themselves to the most general descriptions of their visions, without details. More often than not, the "identity of the ghost" (that is, who he was during his lifetime) is unknown. And even more often it turns out that the whole creepy story is just fiction or a joke.
However, there are times when people who really existed appear after their death or visit places that were of special importance to them during their lifetime.
Mamie Thurman
This story took place in 1932 in Logan, West Virginia. Mamie Thurman, 32, lived a double life. For some, she was a respectable wife of a police officer, others often met her in stores that illegally sell alcohol. It was rumored that she had a secret affair with a local businessman.
On June 22, 1932, a boy picking blackberries found Mamie's body 15 meters from the road. Slit throat, two shots to the head, bruises all over the body …

There were many suspects, among whom were very famous people in Logan. One of them was an assistant hired by a businessman with whom Meima was said to have an affair. It is worth saying that no one was convicted of murder.
Since the murder, Mamie's ghost has been seen repeatedly on Holden 22, near where the body was found. They tell stories about drivers who saw a young woman in old-fashioned clothes on the road, took her to give her a lift, and who suddenly disappeared from the cab at some point on the way.
From time to time she appears on buses that go to the mountains, and sometimes she is wet to the skin. When the bus pulls up to the stop, she gets off, and the place where Mamie was sitting remains wet for a long time.
Karen Gregory
Karen Gregory, 36, has moved into her friend's house in Gulfport, Florida. One day a friend went away on business, leaving Karen at home alone.
On the night of May 23, 1984, neighbors heard women's screams, but for some reason the police were not called.
Two days later, Karen's friend called the police and asked to visit his house: Karen did not answer phone calls and did not show up for work for two days. The police arrived at the address and saw a terrible picture: the girl was raped and beaten with a knife until she died.
For a while, the case did not get off the ground, until the detective noticed that the neighbor living across the street, firefighter George Lewis, changed his testimony several times. It soon became clear that the fingerprints left at the crime scene belonged to him.
Lewis was arrested, convicted and sentenced to life in prison, despite insisting on his innocence. He appealed many times, but ultimately died at age 52 in prison.
As for the house in which Karen was killed, the woman who bought it told strange things. For example, a brown spot in the corridor, where Karen's body lay for two days, whatever you do with it or wipe it off, it appears again and again. The window through which the killer entered the house is shattered by any attempt to open it.
The hostess assures that several times she saw a dark face in the mirror behind her back. And her mother heard loud steps, as if someone was trying to escape from danger, although at that moment there was no one in the house.
Mildred Ann Reynolds
On March 13, 1956, 23-year-old Mildred Ann Reynolds was about to stop by her husband's office during lunchtime. He worked as a trainer at the gym at Avard High School, Oklahoma.
However, her burning car was found in a ditch along a country road, about halfway. Reynolds' body was in the front seat, and everyone assumed it was a tragic accident.
However, a closer inspection of the scene revealed some strange details. For example, the woman's right shoe, covered in blood, lay in front of the car at a distance of 230 meters from the car.
The coat was found behind the car, at a distance of 30 meters from the accident site. The car burned to the ground, as if it had been set on fire by being doused with a flammable substance.
Then there were witnesses who saw the second car and found traces of tire treads near the accident site. Another strange find is the shell casings found next to the car. All evidence pointed to murder. But no one was arrested, not even those suspected of this crime were found.
After that, the ghost of Mildred was seen in a local restaurant, opened in 1996 on the site of the old gym, where Mildred's husband worked, and where she went to school at one time. Once the owners of the restaurant noticed a young woman in green at a table. But while people approached her to receive an order, she disappeared. Sometimes restaurant patrons complain about the smell of burnt hair.
Elizabeth Potts
On New Year's Eve, 1888, Joseph and Elizabeth Potts invited Miles Fawcett to a party at their home in Carlin, Nevada. Since then, no one has ever seen him again.
Some townspeople suspected the Potts: Miles's neighbors saw that the couple entered the man's house and used his car. Others were convinced that the Potts had decided to investigate Fawcett's disappearance, so they searched his property but found nothing.
In September 1888, the Potts moved from Carlin to Wyoming, and the Brewer family moved to the former Potts home. Mrs Brewer worked as a correspondent for a local newspaper, publishing under the pseudonym "The Tireless Bee." On January 5, 1889, she wrote in the newspaper that ghosts lived in her house.
The ghost was not aggressive, it made only strange noises, like knocking on walls and knocking on a door. The loudest noises were heard from the direction of the basement, which was piled high with cans.
On January 19, when the noise from the basement became unbearable, the owners decided to investigate the basement. Under the floor, digging a little, they found human remains. The body was dismembered and partially burned. The items found in the pockets identified the body as Miles Fawcett's. The Potts were arrested and sentenced to death.
On the eve of the execution, Elizabeth opened her veins, but the doctors saved her. The next day the killers went to the gallows together. It should be noted that Elizabeth Potts is the only executed woman in the state of Nevada.
The Cannock Chase murders
From 1964 to 1967, there were several kidnappings of girls aged five to nine in England. They were strangled and their bodies were thrown into the Cannock Chase Cemetery in Staffordshire. Of the four abducted, only a nine-year-old baby survived.
The killings rocked the public, and the largest male hunt in the country's history began. In the end, the police detained 39-year-old Raymond Leslie Morris - it turned out that his car was used in an attempt to kidnap one of the girls.
By that time, the police had already interrogated Morris twice in this case, as he matched the description of witnesses of past abductions.
Morris was found guilty and died in prison at the age of 84.
Soon after his death, children with black eyes began to appear at the Cannock Chase Cemetery. One visitor reported that he heard a little girl giggling and then saw a small child - her eyes were completely black.
Michelle Mason walked in the woods near the cemetery with her two sons and took pictures. Later, looking through the photographs, she made a terrifying discovery. On the right in the picture you can see the image of a girl with blackened eyes, clutching a hoop in her hands.
