On March 14, 2017, Roskosmos began a new recruitment of cosmonauts. According to the deputy head of the corporation, Alexander Ivanov, by the end of this year, about eight people will be selected, capable of going into space.
Any citizen of the Russian Federation under 35 years of age who has the following data (except for the above age limit) can take part in this selection competition: higher education, the necessary qualifications and experience to work in space, excellent health, physical training and psychological qualities. It is according to these indicators that the competition will be held, everything else - nationality, gender, skin color, eyes, even height - will in no way affect the selection results.
Note that now in the cosmonaut corps of Russia there are thirty people, fourteen of them have never flown into space, and the last set of new applicants for the conquest of extraterrestrial space was held in 2012.
What does the new competition mean? As Ivanov said, today Russia faces new tasks in space exploration, for example, in the nearest plans of Roscosmos - the creation of a promising spacecraft "Federation", which will require specialists of a new level.
Probably, in this regard, a new faculty is opening at Moscow State University - the space faculty, at least, the enrollment of students has already been announced. As the rector of the university Viktor Sadovnichy said, this year the new faculty of the country's main university will accept at least a hundred people - future specialists in all areas of space science. It looks like a new stage in space exploration begins in Russia!
