Video: 5 MOST CREATIVE AND MYSTERIOUS COIN ENGRAVING BY ROMAN BOOTEEN 2024, September
Anonim

An interesting engraving came across. In the center, all spheres are framed by a ribbon with an inscription from the Book of Ecclesiastes "In Search of the Meaning of Life" (more on that later). The inscription reads

"MUNDUM TRADIDIT DISPUTATIONI EORUM", tried to translate, but ran into some kind of confusion. The dictionaries translate the phrase as "He made Them" (meaning God, as I understand it). It is unclear who they are; on the engraving there is a Geographer, Astrologer, Cartographer (most likely) and someone who looks like some Indian, holding, in my opinion, a calendar (or something else, she has not figured out).

He created them, or the Spheres, it is not clear. I tried to translate every word, got a completely opposite sentence.

The world was betrayed by their discussions (disputes)

I also came across a phrase with a ready-made translation, which almost completely repeats the phrase from the engraving, with the exception of the word Eorum (Their).

TRADIDIT MUNDUM DISPUTATIONIBUSO- disputes ruined the World.

Here is what they write about this phrase in translation to the Book of Ecclesiastes:

“The synodal translation follows the Vulgate here, which suggests reading“et mundum tradidit disputationi eorum”; The Septuagint renders olam as αἰών, eternity. This version is followed by the Slavic translation (“every century has given there is in their heart”) and modern translations”(Link).

In general, complete nonsense (EVERY CENTURY Gave THEM IN THE HEART).

Nevertheless, in the end the phrase is translated as "Their disputes ruined the world", I think. Why such troubles with concealing the translation?

*** Most of the difficulties were with the word Tradidit.
