Fort George, located in the Canadian town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, is considered to be one of the most haunted places in the Maple Leaf Country. It was built in 1802 to house the local military, Aboriginal warriors and members of the British army. The massive fortification consisted of guard buildings, roadblocks, a hospital, canteens and barracks.

The fort was surrounded by a dry moat in order to shield it from the Americans. Unfortunately, no protection measures helped the fortress - in May 1813 it was attacked and destroyed by the United States army. During the Anglo-American War of 1812-1815, many bloody battles took place, and Fort George also suffered many losses and casualties. It is believed that this place is home to the spirits of Canadian, American, British and Indian warriors who died during the "Second War of Independence of the United States." Today it houses a museum.

Phantoms of Fort George

Finding the ghosts of Fort George is not an easy task, as the fortification is simply colossal. Some structures stretch along the entire length of the fortress, and almost all of these structures have their own unique phantoms. Choose any building here, and it will surely have a couple of mystical legends, confirmed by a large number of eyewitnesses of the local paranormalism.

Supernatural researchers pay great attention to the fort's checkpoints. At night, here you can hear quiet steps, and sometimes even see the one who makes these sounds. He is called the Tall Man. The ghost is really tall, thin and has a European appearance. He has thin gray hair and a large bald patch. A Tall Man has a habit of following and even running after people, so many describe meetings with him, to put it mildly, not too positively.

Another famous local phantom is called the Man in White. It is a quiet and peaceful spirit that sometimes materializes at the top of a random bunk bed in one of the barracks. The dweller from the grave slowly sees off the living with a sad look, and then simply evaporates into the air. And in the former hospital, you can meet the ghost of a mischievous boy who likes to pull visitors by their clothes and iron their hair.

Ghost in the officers' apartment

According to ghost hunter Dana Matthews, the officers' quarters at Fort George are also very mysterious, though often overlooked by ghostbusters. There is a mirror hanging on the wall, in which, according to the stories of witnesses, sometimes there is a reflection of a beautiful young woman with wavy blonde hair. It is believed to be a phantom of the general's wife. He was nicknamed the spirit of the Gilded Lady.

Having recently visited Fort George, Matthews unexpectedly took two amazing pictures there, which supposedly depict the same anomaly - a person with a disproportionately elongated oval face. The researcher received the first photograph by taking pictures in the dark that same mirror that once belonged to the general's wife. In the mysterious photo, you can clearly see the face looking directly into the camera lens.

The second image was also taken in the officers' quarters. Dana photographed the window, and later noticed in this picture a person with a similarly elongated head. True, the author of these photos believes that it is still not about the ghost of the military leader's wife. Looking closely at the second image, Matthews thought it was a phantom of a man in a soldier's uniform. Although the photograph is relatively blurry, it shows a face with dark eyes and mouth, as well as the shoulders, arms, and torso of the ghost.

It is worth noting that immigrants from the other world have been documented here many times before, so Dana Matthews' photographs will be an excellent addition to the museum's photo collection dedicated to the disembodied inhabitants of Fort George.
