Local residents talked about frightening and mysterious phenomena

More than 78 thousand lakes are located on the territory of the Komi Republic. Among them there are immense reservoirs surrounded by mystical stories and secrets that attract tourists from all over Russia. The ProGorod11.ru portal decided to find out what legends surround the large lakes of the republic.

Lake Wad, Sysolsky district

Where: in the Sysolsky district, near the village of Isanevo, near the town of Vizinga.

What is mysticism:

- There is one story that one hunter could not approach the lake due to the fact that something was stopping him: first anxiety arose, and then fear. It was like a psychotropic weapon. By the way, the geophysical parameters of this lake are remarkable. It is located far from rivers and has an almost round shape. The water is always at the same level there. There is a funnel in the center, which suggests that the lake has a double bottom, - said Alexander Andriychuk, who lived in those parts for many years.

- It's really weird. When we dived for the first time, I was constantly shaking underwater, although I have more than 4500 dives in various strange and difficult places behind me. Now I remember this and again it is somehow unpleasant, - says diver Valery Arnold. - The depth of the lake is 21 meters. They went down to the very bottom, the temperature at the bottom was +3, the bottom relief was like a meteorite falling.

Lake Dodzskoe

Where: in the Kortkeros region near the village of Dodz, 14 km from Kortkeros.

What is mysticism:

- Since ancient times, it was not allowed to swim in this lake and even fish. It was believed that devils could drag a person under water. As much as my grandmother loved me, but when she found out that I had gone to the lake, she whipped me with nettles. And my friend's husband was fishing there and said that he had seen the terrible Mermaid. He does not drink, and all his relatives believed. Maybe it's true, because my father also once said that he saw: a mermaid was sitting on a log near the shore, stroking her hair with her hand, says Irina Nesterova from Syktyvkar, who comes from these places.

What is mysticism:

This is the only natural monument in Russia, access to which is controlled by the penal service. Also, the lake is included in the list of the most inaccessible sights of Russia according to the authoritative and world famous publication Forbes.

- According to numerous folklore sources, the cultural hero of Komi, Yirkap, died in the lake. He drowned in Sindor after he did not spare the witch's daughter who turned into a deer during the hunt and lost his magical power, - says local historian Svetlana Moiseeva.

Lake Dont-ty

Where: Ust-Kulom area, approximately 1.5 km southeast of the village of Don

What is mysticism:

- A wonderful feature of this reservoir is the healing mud. The fact is that its depth is from 1 to 3 meters, then mud begins, which in some places reaches 3 meters! It is unusual, it heals joints. There were many stories about how people, thanks to her, said goodbye to their ailments. Swans are also very fond of the lake, they often create families, build nests here. This means the energy of the reservoir is warm and hospitable. There are never mosquitoes near the lake, unlike other reservoirs. And in 1925, they came to the lake to investigate, they found 187 species of algae, of which 72 species are found only in the salt lakes of Finland! I don’t know how to explain it,”says Vasily Pavlov, the guardian of this place.
