A strange scene took place in the lagoon of the city of Santa Rosa earlier this week, when people woke up to the foul smell from the bay. The inhabitants of the city were horrified when they saw how almost the entire lagoon was filled with dead fish.
There were so many dead fish that the city could not clear the lagoon on its own, and the Argentine army with military bulldozers, dump trucks and excavators was sent to help the residents.
The lagoon still has a stifling smell and people are worried: is the mass death of fish caused by poisoning? Officials reassure local residents by proving that the fish died from natural causes and that there are no foreign impurities in the water.
In particular, changes in temperature in recent days, changes in solar activity and water level could alter the oxygenation of the lagoon to such an extent that life in it was impossible for fish.
However, such an explanation by officials seems highly unlikely, since in the event of a global violation of oxygenation, the ocean would throw out all types of marine life.
However, in this case, the death of almost one species takes place, which occupies a strictly defined oceanic “habitat floor”.
Hence, we can assume a sharp release of volcanic gases, after which toxic compounds formed in the water tend to be distributed in layers reflecting the temperature of the water.
