When a pregnant woman in the United States was struck by lightning, doctors feared that the fetus in her womb would not survive. Fortunately, their predictions did not come true - as a result of a cesarean section, a girl was born. True, with an unusual "hairstyle".
Last July, a couple from Albuquerque, New Mexico - Gordon and his pregnant girlfriend Kendra Villanueva - watched the Independence Day fireworks display when a thunderstorm suddenly broke out.
The man tried to take Kendra to a safe place, but at that moment they were struck by a lightning bolt, a reminder of which is the burn scar on the woman's finger. The Albuquerque fire department employees came to the aid of the victims and took them to a hospital.
“They looked shocked and didn't fully understand what had happened,” recalls Lt. Ryan Perry. “And although they looked quite healthy, we understood that it was impossible to assess the severity of their condition by their appearance, because they could have received injuries of internal organs. Therefore, we urgently transported them to the hospital."
According to British tabloid MailOnline, the couple was taken to the University of New Mexico clinic, where doctors examined her. Specialists, fearing for the life of the fetus, were forced to undergo a caesarean section, as a result of which a girl was born ahead of schedule, whose parents had previously chosen the name Kimberly.

Unfortunately, the lightning strike did not pass without a trace: a year after the birth, Kimberly cannot crawl, sit and eat food on her own. In addition, immediately after the birth of the girl's hair began to electrify and, as a result, her head is decorated with a hairstyle in the form of hair sticking out on end.
Doctors cannot say when an unusual child will be able to walk and speak, and why his body is so exposed to static electricity, noting that a girl who survived a lightning strike is a unique phenomenon in itself. According to them, only 11 incidents involving pregnant women struck by lightning are known, and only a few of them had live children.
“It's hard to watch my daughter being tube fed, but I'm glad she survived,” says Kimberly's father, who calls the girl Little Flash Gordon. "I hope she runs at incredible speed or saves the universe."
