In Stavropol, a man was found guilty of attempted destruction of other people's property by arson. The convict claimed that he was fighting the ghost of a sorcerer in such a way, FederalPressYug reports, citing the regional prosecutor's office.
It was established that on September 26, a drunk man crept up to the house of his acquaintances at night and set fire to the wallpaper lying on the windowsill through the window. The Stavropol citizen was going to burn someone else's property, worth 300 thousand rubles. However, the flame went out spontaneously. Nevertheless, the owners suffered 176 thousand rubles of damage.
The attacker later clarified that he actually wanted to help the neighbors who were suffering from ghosts. According to him, a sorcerer lived earlier in the house that was set on fire, who later hanged himself. From this, the convict said, his acquaintances heard strange steps and rustles in the house.
A criminal case was initiated against the arsonist under Part 3 of Art. 30 h. 2 tbsp. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt on the deliberate destruction of someone else's property by arson). The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 1 year 8 months in prison conditionally. In addition, he will have to compensate his acquaintances for 180 thousand rubles of damage.
