A video of a rare phenomenon was published on the Internet, as a real tornado circled over Ladoga. Forecasters assure that you should not be surprised and afraid.
A tornado in the south of Lake Ladoga in the Volkhovsky district of the Leningrad region was noticed on the evening of August 6. A gigantic whirlwind circled and disappeared over the water area of Ladoga, before reaching the coast.
A tornado is an atmospheric vortex that appears in a thundercloud and spreads down, often to the very surface of the earth, in the form of a cloud sleeve or trunk tens and hundreds of meters in diameter.
Sergei Egorchenko from the village of Zaostrovye posted a video on his instagram, which shows how a column of water soared into the clouds. Note that at the time of filming in the Volkhov region there was a thunderstorm, rain and strong wind.
Other eyewitnesses note that there were several tornadoes: “Yes, it was cool. We stood on the beach in a tent and prayed that he would not reach us. By the way, there were two of them and the third tried to grow up, but could not."
